Schubert S1 Vs HJC FS-10

I am thinking about getting a new lid to replace my 2 year old caberg V2.

I will only consider lids with a internal sun visor - i loved this feature in the caberg, but it was way too noisey so i'm not going to buy another one. The best quality lids i've seen that have a sun visor are the Schubert S1 or the HJC FS-10. Both come in very light carbon fibre versions which look cool. I'm not really bothered about the price - i'll happily pay more notes for a better quality lid.

So have u ever used either of these and if so would u recommend them? Also is there another quality lid with the internal sun visor thats i've missed

Please don't suggest anything without a sunvisor - i'm not interested.

The S1 is very good imho - Infinity had some good deals on them a few weeks ago

The only fault I can find with it is that the interior shape (it has grooves in the roof for ventilation) leaves me with a mohican style hairdo, and that on one trip when it rained heavily for about 2 hours the anti-mist coating on the visor got saturated and gave up the ghost

I'm going to replace my visor shortly with the new ones they've just brought out that have the facility for a pinlock visor which should do the trick nicely :grin:

I have an S1 too.

First thing, note that the old S1 has been superceded by the S1 Pro and that is definitely the one to go for. Better ventilation from what I've heard and it comes with a pinlock visor as standard, well worth it. Don't be tempted by clearance offers on old style S1 (in my opinion), I had the "anti-mist" coating come off too (now replaced by pinlock).

Quality is nearly up to Arai/Shoei I think, not quite there but pretty good (I've had a couple of Arai lids before).

The sun visor is brilliant. Note you can turn it over so you get either the "aviator" style cutout showing or a straight bottom edge, the way I prefer to have it.

They are quieter than most helmets, but not stunningly so.

They do use big shells compared to other makes, it dwarfs my previous Arai. They are slightly heavier (S1=1525gms, old Arai Astro=1380gms) but I don't find the weight any issue.

The fit can be tweaked a bit with moving the headband about a bit on the velcro.

If it suits you then definitely recommended.

thanks for the comments guys. am gonna pop into infinity and see if i can try on a S1 and a S1 pro at the same time to see if i can justify the extra 150 notes for the pro.
