View Full Version : The first rule of cake club is, you do not talk about cake club...

Random of the day:

I've got a confession to make. I fecking love carrot cake. If I'm honest I could probably marry a carrot cake. I don't know where my obsession came from but it's been a dirty little secret of mine for about a year now. The best carrot cake I've ever had was from a little cafe on the docks in liverpool about 2 months ago. 2nd place is probably starbucks passion carrot cake, lovely and moist with bits of walnuts and some passion fruit in there. Smashing.

Does anyone else have a secret cake/confectionary based obsession? If so, would you like to join me at 3pm for cake club?

make yourself a cuppa, or a coffee, or a pint of vodka - whatever your tipple, grab your favourite sweet based snack and have 5 mins to yourself.

Anyone up for it? or will I be a lonely carrot cake perv forever?

Tescos do a nice Carrot Cake in a white box , but the best I have ever had is from Edwards Delicatessen in Conwy ............ It`s made on the premises and somebody tried to pinch a bit of mine once , they had teeth marks in their forearm for 2 hours apparently . For an example , put your dog`s dinner out , then try to remove the bowl whilst it`s eating .. that`s what happens if you try to take my Carrot Cake away from me .

My weakness is deffo carrot-cake (I used to be obsessed with carrot cake muffins from Tesco's but they stopped making them a few years ago :( BUT!!! I was delighted to discover some in the Marks and Spencers in Watford. Now that was good :D

I also adore apple and rhubarb crumble. The best one Ive ever had was in a pub in Epping forest. Id go all the way back there just for that :D

And matt - it is called gaa-loom-braa-maa :D (for those of you who dont know, its a greek sponge cake which is covered in a greek syrup and it prevents it from drying out)....I think theres a rude joke in there somewhere knowing you lot :p

Trailing wires? You call yourself a gadget man! Shame on you. Get the tomtom wire behind the dash. I did and only have about 2 inches showing coming out of a small dash-top windscreen vent where the tomtom mounts.

Baked cheesecake is delicious. In fact, all cheesecake is wonderful stuff.

Mrs Wyrdness' chocolate lime cheesecake is divine, but I think that the best one I've had was here (http://www.thedux.co.nz/index.cfm/index.cfm/christchurch/home). It's one of my favourite eating places in the world, just a pity that it's such a long way to go from London.

unfortunately it was £3.50 a slice and I'm *trying* to be good at the moment, although the idea of cake welding two pieces together does sound very tempting... we'll see.

It was mega though, I did a right old picnic - chicken and sweetcorn bagette, hand made cheese and onion crisps and a latte and carrot cake to finish - 9 quid! robbing basts. Oh well, only treat myself like that whenever I'm working away :)
