Excuse me for being a complete mechanical ignoramus, but.....when I come completely off the throttle on my 650, I tend to get a clicking sound as if something is 'closing down' in the engine. Any advice/ideas would be useful. The bike is a K3 and is due a service..........

ANY EXPLANATIONS IN VERY SIMPLE ENGLISH PLEASE!! When I say I am an ignoramus I really do mean it!!

Thanks

i had a bike do this before i believe it was the cam chain clicking or ticking on deceleration.

It's not a continuous click! Just once as the revs die down.

Hmm see if it gets any worse or if it starts repeating. Have you checked all your levels?

Could be cam chain and/or tensioners.

It is the cam chain - notoriously noisy in the SVs given that there are two of them - and the earlier models had relatively ineffective tensioners, which increases the noise.

It's not really a problem, but can be annoying. The remedy would be something along the lines of removing the tensioners (at the back of each cylinder), cleaning, resetting, and inserting. The Curvy models will require a special "tool" for this, which you can make yourself - I believe a small flat screwdriver will suffice.

Mine makes a bit of noise when it's cold... but also resonates with something in my nasal passages at about 9000 rpm ;)
