I filtered to the front of a traffic light at the weekend and noticed in my mirrors another bike filtering up behind me. Looked like an unfaired kawasaki (was green anyhoo) but had what looked like the double row of squares that you get on a policemans peaked hat band. Could also have been some sort of finishing flag patterned sticker I guess.
Nearly unmarked bike?

if it is green, possibly it was a paramedic ???

Could have been I guess.
I should add that the markings were only visible on the plastic panels (tank?) either side of the headlight.
Didnt appear to have a police uniform on either. While the bikes are unmarked are the riders also incognito?

well if unmarked police cars can be manned by un-marked cops then I'm guessing the unmarked police bikes can be riden by un-marked men.

adamfool: Could well have been one of them speed fours actually; right kind of green.
Erm do unmarked traffic cars/bikes have unmarked drivers/riders though?
I mean is that all you get? flash of a warrant card or do they just stealthily film you?

was prolly either a speed four, or some dude had put reflectiv square stickers on his bike. I don't think the police would go sticking stuff on their unmarked bikes to make them look like police bikes - would kinda defeat the object.

oh yes. i did some work once at a police depot. during a spell in the workshop, which was full of police vehicles, a dark fireblade was ridden in by a sparky. i ran over to have a chat and discovered that they were fitting a sat nav to an unmarked police bike. this bike was tricked up beyond your wildest dreams. i did write the reg down but lost it in the works van, no good anyway as theres no plate on the front, silly sod. were all dooooooooooooooooooooomed.
the have a few unmarked bikes in the met as well

Which are normally used for more important tasks than bikers with loud cans.

+1.
Around this way, there's a black 'Busa, with tinted screen. The rider wears black leathers, and a black lid. If it's sunny, I've seen him with a tinted visor too.
Blue strobe fitted under the tinted screen and one just above the numberplate.
First thing you know about him being a cop, is when you overtake him & see blue flashing lights.

Law stipulates you have to stop for a constable in uniform. Not a car with the blue lights. You would be within your rights to ride to a cop shop before stopping

I wonder if you'd get that far before half the force are chasing you and box you in! If you try it, film it and post it here.

Hmmmm. Still how many of us have actually SEEN a warrant card to know what one actually looks like.
See I reckon many reports of police imposters may well tie up a lot of police time that can only be cured by making sure that police vehicles ARE obviously police vehicles IYSWIM.
I'm joking obviously but....................
I was once told by a connected biker that:
Honda CBR1100 Blackbirds are the standard unmarked bike.
Always in black with no markings apart from the Honda logo. Everything on it is standard apart from blue lights :plod: that are fitted within the lens unit.
These are the ones I look out for!

drove from liverpool to leeds and back and back again today. On the m62 eastbound at about j5 there was an RTA with 4 marked volvos and a dark blue/gun metal grey colour vovlo v70 at the back didn't get the reg. Then on the way home this evening (more or less same part of motorway), 4 police pans with a dark blue pan all riding in the opposite direction - could have been a tourist but it was the exact same type just without any markings.
Thought this might be of use to someone :)
They use dark blue unmarked Pans in Lincolnshire. They have blue lights behind the screen for the front, built in to the panniers for the rear and the riders wear black leathers with the cuffs and so on in holders attached to their boots. They're very difficult to tell as police until they are too close for it to be of any use.
A couple of years ago I saw a red Pan unmarked apart from blue lights having stopped someone on the M54 near Telford.
When I got home to Warwickshire I dropped in on the local Plod station (when it was open) and asked what the procedure was for being stopped by unmarked vehicles.
Basically they were useless, couldn't tell me what you ought to do. I asked about them not being "in uniform" so not required to stop, and they said that would defeat the object.
A plain clothes bike cop then walked into the office, and said they don't stop vehicles on motorways with unmarked bikes, basically saying I was a liar. I can't say I was surprised at the performance.

They use these in nottinghamshire and derbyshire aswell. Seen a couple patroling the A46 the other day, I had to double take. Also see them on the M1
