I have always said to myself, the only bike I would get in replacement to the SV is a red/white R6.

As you can appreciate, i couldn't believe my luck the other weekend whilst buying some SV parts, intending to do a service, a guy walked in and handed over his keys to 2006 red/white R6 so the garage could sell it on his behalf.

After a fortnight of um'ing and ar'ing I called the garage and to my surprise it was still available, call it fate.

On Friday, i'll be very sad :(, the SV has been an excellent first big bike and done me proud. I have commuted on her for the last 3 years, up and down the A2 in all weathers and she's never missed a beat. She has always started first time never broke down. Only recently have I contemplated replacing her as she's started needing some attention.

I'm sure the guilt and saddness will quickly disappear as I become the new owner of ...

1445

The R6 has a big hole to fill but I'm sure it will meet my expectations and more.
I know I dont post much but I still intend to stay on the forum and maybe in the summer go on a SelKent rideout or two.

Ace thats a nice bike, I rode the new 08 R6 last month that was fun to ride, but didn't get to play with it the way i wanted as it was raining. Though I'm very happy with my SV right now, this summer will be ace, first summer on my bike:D Enjoy it and take care on it.

I think i was at Giants the same time as you, I have just done the same thing, Going to pick up a 2007 R6 on a 2008 plate Saturday, Ive loved my SV650S and after looking for about a month fell for the R6.. see your very local too. Looks like Giants made a bit of commission from you two then...

I personally used to just go in to drool over the overpriced 916 they had and the blond who worked upstairs...found them to be a bit unfriendly otherwise TBH...but not as unfriendly as the bloke at Bates in dartford.

I'll keep a lookout for you two on your R6's...!

I'll be honest, I genuinely wasnt looking for another bike as the SV was more than enough. However, my dream bike became available and after dismissing the idea the first time, I could walk away the second.

Personally, I found them to be OK, better than Bates in Dartford and alot better than Aye Gee. I'm sure they did get some commission, however, I didnt buy brand new only an ex customers bike which with only 1200 miles and Yamaha waranty is almost brand new to me.

I also asked them for a free lid, but have you seen their collection, crapola. So instead they going to fit some crash bungs for free.

ECBates are poo, their servicing and parts seem to be ok - but that scruffy little git in sales, never wants to budge an inch on price or do any kind of a deal. In fact it is one of the reasons I still have an SV and not a GSXR.

That said they had a 600 in white in their when I got my oil and filter on Saturday and it looked mint.......

Bowen Moto in Chatham were nice though, where is Giant?

Paddock entrance to Brands Hatch. Enter the gates, turn left and the garage is on the right hand side.

I hope so too. The seat is like sitting on a board.

If its too uncomfortable, I'll have to enquire about a gel seat or the like or even a nice velour cushion ;)

How far is the commute? That's what put me off of a fireblade.

I live in Istead Rise, a minute or so from the A2 and travel up to Blackfriars via Blackwall Tunnel. The distance is roughly 25 miles each way.

You'll never get a good deal out of Bates...I've tried on numerous occasions and that scruff wont move on price...let alone out of his seat. Thats why I eventually bought my SV from sturdeys in Tonbridge, good deal and good service as well.

As for Giants, yes they do have a lot of Tat upstairs. When do you get the R6's then?

Took half day Friday, picked up the new bike, sorted out the paper work and then took a leisurely ride down to Hastings.
Immediate impression is, what a bike. I loved the SV but the R6 is fantastic, I've ridden her a few times now and I have a grin from ear to ear every time.
Taking me a while to adjust to the different riding styles i.e. high in revs before changing up and the wrists ache after about 45 mins in the seat.

Am so pleased :)
