Really looking forwards to it, but none of my local mates (nor myself) have a 360 yet. I will play it over a mate in London's in the not too distant future though. Rockstar are, from a technical POV, the best developer by a long long way IMO.

I got it from play, 1st come 1st served i think. Pre ordered it in 2006, just happened to go on play 1 day and all of a sudden GTA4 pre order was up. So gotta be 1 of the 1st in line i guess.

If i got the red ring, i'll ummm cry and start having silly thoughts, like getting a PS3, but then i'll loose on the lottery and then realise i couldn't afford a PS3 and cry for 2 weeks till i get a replacement xbox.

Anyone know if the new 360 elite suffers from the red ring? I'd want a 360 over a ps3 (cost, dislike of Sony, lack of good ps3 games, more of a fan of project gotham than GT, etc.) but am a bit concerned by the ridiculously high numbers of them I hear breaking down.

After december 2007 xbox's were fixed.

The proble was they were getting more power than was need to run them which made them over heat. They now have a smaller power pack and better internal layout to aid cooling.

Yes, happens to mine sometimes. Only once or twice but it seems to be fine now. It'll probably breakdown when I try to play GTA4.

Rob, don't get too excited. I think play are located in Jersey, even if it's dispatched today I doubt it will arrive tomorrow. :(

What problems though?

The major one 'RROD' has been sorted, that is the only problem that has really plagued xbox, other thing are just minor techinical problem that effect the occasional box. RROD was a major one that effected pretty much all of them and is what gave the xbox a bad name.

G2D, have you tried a DVD cleaner as mine wasn'r reading certain discs, PGR3 generally, but not had a problem so probably just some dust on the laser.

I made a concious decision not to get GTA IV as I didn't want ot miss any decent biking weather playing games. I almost broke and pre-ordered in Game but they weren't let any more people pre-order. Great, saved me ?40. Until this afternoon, bored at work, bought it off ebay. Idiot. :-) So looking forward to it :-)

I loved the old GTA 3s, and GTA 4 is suppopsed to be much better looking, more immersive, millions of new options, and is also living up to the hype in reviews. Its probably going to be the most playable addictive wide-ranging game for a long time.

Like a goon I've been trawling through loads of reviews about this game. Every single one says that this game is just something else...
I like the idea that every game is different; that each 'level' has so many different outcomes/storylines that depend on what you decide to do.

Should be getting it on Tuesday - leaving the office at 8:30 to make sure I'm one of the first at the game shop when it opens. Thankfully over here Wednesday and Thursday are bank holidays :) Unfortunately my other halfs parents just brought a new house so I'm torn between being the good son-in-law and helping as they did when we got our house, or just paying for a painter for a day for them and playing the game... BTW: Got the 360 a couple of weeks ago *purely* for GTA IV, my wifes opinion of me has gone down (but my 360 owning workmates opinion of me has gone up so it kinda makes up for it:))

I was lucky enough to get my copy on this saturday.
I've played about 18 hours so far. One of the best games I've ever seen. I've had countless "wow" moments all the way through.
It is most definatly worth the wait.

I am not sure what to do here, i called around the local game shops and they have told me that the only copys they will have in tommorow or for the next week are pre orders!
one shop said they may have some in the morning if i get there when there open and Tesco say they are putting them on the shelfs at midnight. Will these shops really sell out or is just them hyping it up? im seriousley thinking to go to tesco at 12 tonight.

Do you guys think i should do that, or should i pop in tesco on my way to work at half 8? Dont really want to wait anylonger to play this game!!

I just bought it from sainsburys at 8am when it opened on the way to work. was only £38.97 I saw it at £50 in game for the standard edition :confused:

Just picked up my pre-order copy. Gotta say being one of the first 5 in the queue (and the oldest by about 15 years - 50% of my age, nearly) I felt like a prat. But when I left the shop people were queueing down the street to pick up their copy.

I just can't play until about 11pm tonight as I have to go to my in laws and then pick my other half up from a works night out. ARGHHH!!!!! (Still two days bank holiday over here so I intend to make the time up again:) )

Well the verdict is it`s a lot slicker than the other versions , the characters are still a touch wooden , but it does have the feel of the first 3d GTA on the PS2 as well , it isn`t as hip-hop as the last one thank god ............. I`ve literally only bought new clothes , taken a woman bowling and beaten up 3 Albanians then turned it off as it was 2 am and I needed to get some kip LOL . Anyhoo most of you will have it by now so get cracking people :D

Been playing it for 3 hours. Graphics are really good, same gameplay as the old gta, brilliant. The cars are a bit harder to control though, bikes are easier I think, although I've only been able to find a cruiser so far.
Had a quick shot on xbox live team deathmatch and got slaughtered! lol
Its hard to find decent guns in time before you get killed, looks promising though

I have to say....I'm abit dissapointed with it :(

For the last week I have been playing assasins creed and the movements of the character and graphics of GTA are nowhere near as good, and after playing assassins creed its really really noticable.

I only seems to have played in the dark so far aswell which makes hard viewing in my opinion. Controls are fairly awkward also if you used to old GTA games.

The multiplayer is ok, but like has been said weapons are hard to spot and although they are kind of shown in the radar on the bottom left they are bloody hard to spot on that aswell, especialy if you glasses are out of prescription lol.

I have only played it for 2 hours though so maybe i just need to get into it abit more. I think I also need to drop my TV down from 1080i to 720p as there is so much going on its just blurs at any speed.

I must be doing something wrong with the jumping and climbing aswell as people are gettting on roofs etc via climbing ladder etc but I can only get the character to hold onto stuff and never pull himself up.
