Well orgers finally got the g/f some kit and got her on the back of the bike tonight :driving:. Went for a 30min ride and it was jolly nice:smt045
As they do she is now moaning that she found it hard to hold on when I "went fast" :). She couldnt hold on to the grab rail as tight as she would have liked as its quite fat and she has only got small hands:smt102
Anyway...... does anyone know where i can find a thinner grab rail?? Perhaps off another model of bike that will just bolt on???
Women eh:smt119 lol
Thanks in advance:smt096

Can't help with the problem...however give me a call when you are free and the 4 of us will go for a bimble! :D
How about love handles so that she can hold on easier to you???
I don't use the grab rail, but as I only have small hands myself, the couple of times I tried it I agree about it being a struggle.
Try a renntec rack.................nice thin top rail to hold on to.

I've used these before, when i was using them my pillion kept banging their head on the back of mine if i braked hard, i didn't like them personally

Sounds like she needs to switch to the old 'reach around'. No worries about too fat there, I imagine ;)
How about trying these? (http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MCYCLE&pcode=MTXMLH01)

Also, one other thing.....get some anti slip matting for the pillion seat. You can buy a proper cover, but just a cheap bit of matting works fine. It makes it so much easier as the pillion doesn't slide forward.
its not easy to hold onto the grab rail when pillion. its useful for braking but I use love handles with my pillions. never had a clash of helmets. but i dont brake so its not a problem.

+1 - the renntec is thinner

the ventura luggage system comes with a little grab handle type thing which is much thinner than the standard one. Might be a good investment now that you can take gf away touring. You'll need lots of luggage space with a female pillion.
I use lovehandles and C has never had a problem.....before she fall sick she could hold on even on wheelies

she may find it easier to hold on round your waist instead, and brace against you/the tank during braking. This also has the advantage that she's more likely to lean with you when you go round corners, etc.

You could always try using a belt, that's what we did, you can run it under the front of the pillion seat, fits nicely where the spaces are to hang helmets from.
The misses found this much easier than trying to use the grab rail when accelerating.

Lots of useful replies cheers folks:)
Think I might invest in some handles:smt048 Either that or I will try and grow my own love handles
Thanks again......

ah the old grabrail excuse lol, yeah my ex used that one too  but seriously i took mine off because with the rail on i found there is always a massive gap between you and the pillion.. *Not good imo* so i took it off.. and now i have no mrs.. it means prospective ladies will have to hold on to me instead... win win it is.. but if you are bunched together and comfortable you find the bike will handle better as your center of grav isnt all over the shop.. the girl im taking out at the moment finds it easier to either A, hold on to my pockets B, brace on the tank, or C, *my favorite* tell her to grip with her knees to stabolise herself.. horse riders will know what i mean :D and to make her feel a little bit better you have to drop the mandatory "your left hand, on her knee" when your crusing along and its safe to do so.. ;) oh and one other thing.. the pillion seat on the SV carries a decent amount of vibration... so kick it off the limiter a few times ;) . . . and to everyone else.. yes my bikes arnt just for riding on lol,......i'l get my coat...

You could get love handles?? They act as like a belt around the rider and 2 handles either side of your waists and are quite comfortable my gf says? Worth trying not expensive.
