Can you change the title to say 'The Lemon Tree' instead of 'Shire Horse' ?? :-)

Oh, and make it a sticky..

Bah. No liver & bacon. Just as well I had some yesterday.

Though I did have it at the Lemon Tree once...

I can thoroughly recommend the Robin Hood, if anyone fancies a 20 quid steak...

So they carry on the tradition of robbing you of money, nice.

Not going to make this one I don't think.

Some directions from the Shire if anybody needs them -

Turn right out of the Shire, down to the roundabout over A404, straight ahead to next (mini) roundabout and take a left. Take the first right and follow to the end of the road. Take a left at the T junction then second right into Golden Ball Lane and the Lemon Tree is on the right hand side.

Hi,

Never met you guys at the shire (or lemon) before, but I'll be at my gf's tomorrow night which happens to be litterally 30seconds round the corner from the lemon tree.

Do you guys meet for a ride? or just a meal/drink....?

I'v only just realised just how close the shire horse is!

Sam

Hello smegmunky - Do I want to know where that came from??

Usually just a drink/food and a chat but if the weather is nice then we could go for a ride.. People arrive at diff times so bit difficult to arrange the ride

Come along, the more the merrier.. :-)

I'll be there, unless it's absolutely p*ssing it down!

One question, will I see the Lemon Tree on the main road (A308), or is it just off the road? If it is, can someone give me a reference for the turning?

Cheers,

Cheers,

The A308 between Maidenhead and Marlow isn't exactly a main road, it's practically rural. Simplest route there is up/down the A404 and turn off at the Bisham roundabout - right if you're coming from the M4, left if you're coming from Wycombe. Up the twisty hill and it's down a small side turning on the left. If you go past a big tudor-looking pub (the Robin Hood) on the left you've gone too far.

It's a reasonable enough place, but a bit of a sod to find if you don't know where it is already.

Might be along, not sure yet, hopefully finish in the afternoon up at the Ace, so an easy ride up there isn't out of the question.

Cheers Mark.

Is that a pansy-foo-foo thing, or injury-related?

I shall, of course, be in the car, but I have a new excuse: my SV will be at George White for a service (and there's no way I'm going through the hassle of getting the RGV running for a 5 minute ride).

A bit of both. Legs not fully fixed yet so I don't really wanna go out riding that much in wet, slippery or other adverse conditions or with an increased chance of damaging it again. I've only ridden the bandit about 5/6 times so far (over last two weeks- where I've come off the crutches)

Raining here at the moment and not much sign of it clearing up, so chances are I proberly won't be there tonight.

What time are people getting there? I might be a little later than usual as I'd like to pop home and tinker with the car whilst it's still light! Alternatively, I might change my mind and turn up on the bike straight from work.

Shame I hadn't checked before setting off! :smt013

I'd just about had enough by the time I got off the M4 and pulled onto the A4 thinking how warm and dry the Shire was going to be... :smt009
Only to find a deserted shire...

Of course as I hadn't checked the venue, I didn't know it was down the road.:smt092

So I'm now cold and shivery and curled up on the sofa. :shaking:

Sticky Lemon is more pub like but less room than the shire inside.. A good substitute :-)

Will be ok in summer , lots of tables outside..

Food was good. How did the burger compair to the shires ones? Fish was definately better. As for the waitress, she talked more than those at the shire and was generally more pleasant and wasnt unpleasant on the eye. I liked that pub cause it was more of a pub than a restaurant. Even I hit my head on on the beams. Sign of a proper old building. Wonder if knightrider would manage it?

Its was a slightly better mixed grill I thought, and a slightly nicer barmaid. Not much between them really, didn't seem like it had tons of space if it gets busy later.

Yeah we got home fine. I didn't follow you when you overtook because I could see NOTHING! Unlit road that I didn't know, fog and rain on both sides of my visor, I had to slow to a crawl sadly. Anyway, we knew the way home so it was ok, apart from Phil kept dropping back cos of his faulty cylinder. Rubbish curveys hey! :-P

It was a really fun actual meet in the pub, but on reflection if it says heavy rain all night, I might in the future decide against a large 140 mile round trip.

Cheers guys ... was good to meet you all ... decided to take an interesting route back to the A404 ... came out of Pub, and turned right, then took next left (down Lee Lane/Road I think it was called) ... not a road you want to be doing on a bike really ... thank god i was in the car! It's basically a single-track road with more than a few swimming pools on it (thanks to all that rain), and no street lighting ... almost as entertaining as meeting you lot!
