Is that what it is? I thought it was swarf from something being ground away and collapsing? Any ideas on what caused the wheel to fall off?

I thought it was brake fluid being sprayed out, the lever looks like it's gone back to the grip, but you may be right.

But his bike has a huge frame thing protecing it from damage, so it's ok! ;)
And his bandana will protect his head...not that he's got much brain there that needs looking after.

Lol apparently a lot of the stunt rides, especially US ones, think that wearing leathers and helmets is a bit "gay"

Any ideas on what caused the wheel to fall off?

Personally I would say the forks failed on the underneath where the Fork clamps onto the spindle , that will be the weakest point as that is where the least material is , or the end sheared off the fork legs from all the stress being applied to it .
Apparantly the 03-04 forks have that problemof splitting.
A company called fullthrottleinc have a way of machining the forks to stop this from happening.
