View Full Version : Rockingham national
Anyone been there?
Not that I'm toying with the idea of

or anything...
I did the International in atrocious conditions in mid March (snowing). It was too cold to get decent grip, but I've attended some good dry and warm days there. My only gripe with Rockingham is it's flat and featureless, so judging where braking points and turn in points are is difficult. There are lots of left handers though, which makes a welcome change.
Me at the last left before the right hairpin

Been there a few times (i pass it twice a day on the way to work).
I've done the rock. It's nice for the SV as there are smaller straights. Some tricky curves so well worth a day to figure them out! Pits etc are quite new.

Cracking little track, as it isn't really a power circuit in any part, would potentially be spot on for the SV!! 8)
... let me know if you DO decide to go, I could well be game 8)
yup, first and so far only trackday took place there and i loved it

I did the international as well and loved it. Quite a new circuit and very "designed" so has quite a few lefts as well as rights :) Had one of my best trackdays here.
I wasn't keen on the International circuit where it went from infield to Oval, and again from oval to infield. There's a huge bump at each, the latter being right slap bang in a left hairpin where grip is reduced by huge amounts of car tyre rubber all over the track - braking is a bit dodgy there too.
If I go back it'll only be to do the National circuit.

Ok, scratch my comment - I did the National, I think - which ever one doesn't use the speedway oval!
EDIT - yep definitely the National - That was great

a great track and very under-rated as none of the championships go there. I did national a couple of times, doing Int'l soon so I'll compare but everyone I have spoken to reckons the National is better

I'm going on the 18th May so see you there, in the Inters. National is a great track though you're a better man than me if you break 100mph. International, I go with Lozzo's remarks about it being stupid, not gonna rush back to that one.
Now resorted to weather watching..... will be stupid busy at work but still struggling to find a reason to avoid the "Book now" button.
Should have a spare set of levers by then too
- just in case ofcourse

i'd be well up for this too. have been there to watch cage racing, drifting and british supermoto in the car (which is HUGE!), but never been on the track.
i have been on rockinghams website looking for bike track days and have noticed it to be about ?10-15 cheaper than booking through hottrax.

Your car is huge?
Damn - now have to consider added risk of being lapped by restricted yellow curvy - hmmmm...

I am actually out on my pushbike in the sun in a mo, off down the dole office for my first 'checkup' - where I have to show them what I have been doing job searching wise ... puts a real dampener on an otherwise fine day that! :D
