View Full Version : TV Track Day.
OK. So it was discussed last night at the Sticky Lemon Tree and was met with sounds of approval.
So here we go. The first poll of many no doubt. In the first instance, who fancies the idea of a TV Track Day?
Enter your choice above. There are no times, dates, or tracks decided at this time. But it would seem the main criteria is low cost.
Discuss (and vote).

isn't bad for window shopping
Bored now, over to you lot.
Then isn't FGO off to snetterton at some stage?
There aren't that many tracks around the south.
Moving north you have Lydd (more of a go-kart track), Brands (expensive), Thruxton (bit of an unknown quantity), Silverstone (expensive), Rockingham (a maybe), Mallory, Snetterton (too fast for SVs) and then you're into the arctic wastelands with Oulton and Mallory Park.
So I reckon it's most likely to be Thruxton or Rockingham.

More window shopping
I would be interested in another one with you lot, providing distance in absolute miles and miles away lol

I can do mid week if it make it cheaper. Rockingham isn't really that far away. Its only just off the A14 which is real east to get to. Silverstone is obviously very handy for us Oxford lot, but a bit pricy I imagine. they do run some days IIRC on the smaller circuit which are cheaper.
I don't mind where, I don't mind when. For me cost is of my only concern. I don't particularly want to go to a circuit which is full throttle most of the time. You may not know this, but I like twisties.
I'll go with the majority though.
So another vote for Rockingham then.....

Your trying to influence the vote me thinks

Me?
Bah!

Thruxton is about as South as you can get, near Andover. Brands Hatch is near Dartford, so not that far away as well. Silverstone is not all that far away either.
Rockingham is quite far away (near Leicester). If we're going that far we may as well do a decent track like Cadwell with some hills in it. Rockingham looks flat and boring to me.
I guess price will be the factor here, I will also have to purchase a leather jacket and maybe even new trousers before doing a track day so I might be out of contention.
There is also Castle Coombe near Bath, great little track.
Too much time on my hands.... Tracks I can think of so far...

Don't think many trackdays are run at Thruxton, I've raced a car there, and to say the place is fast is an understatement!
Castle Combe suffers from the harshest noise restrictions of any circuit going. A STANDARD GSX-R600 won't pass they're noise limit, so probably a lot of hassle.
Rockingham may look flat, but it's a very technical circuit, probably nice for SV's and Ginger Hornets ;)
It's also 100 miles from The Shire pub, probably do-able in a day. Cadwell Park is almost 200 and a 4 hour trip, certainly not do-able in a day....
Brands is close but expensive, and Silverstone is the same.
Dan, if leathers are the only thing holding you back, I have an old set that may fit you..... you can borrow them if you want them.
Still can't find any thruxton days though....
I'm not conviced they run them at Thruxton any more ....

Dawn? Dawn? DAWN???? :)
Oh yeah, and I'm up for this (depending on date ;) )
Not bothered about which circuit, as I'm doing Brands GP in May :D

About November should see FBs TL back together then...
I'm up for any track, any where and any time :) and when Flibble has her bike back I'm sure she we'll be too :)

FYI Thruxton have very limited track hours throughout the year so they don't do trackdays at the circuit as would normally be the case, a few are available but these are very expensive and prodominately car club ones.
Cheers Mark.

Looks Like I may get a track day or two this year with all the interest, Don't mind where so long as I don't have to ride 100+ miles to get there.

Yep, count me in too (pending bike).
Mind prices appear cheaper for some places with lower db and know some people's cans won't past... er Tony for one. lol

100 miles in a van is do-able. 200 miles in a van, to be there in time to sign in in the morning, would be just crazy and almost certainly involve an overnight stay.
Lydden is 110 miles from the Shire Horse ?100 run on Saturdays 10/5, 1/6 or 26/7

Mainly cos it's cheap and Rockingham isn't too far away..
Maybe it's time for some sort of Dates poll as "when" is prob going to affect "where"?

That is VERY useful as I had no clue where anything was! Thanks!
For me, I want it cheap, near and preferably on a weekend, although I can probably get a day off work with some warning.
I also have no leathers, so I will speak to Si about possibly trying his pair of lederhosen on after a rideout or something. As soon as my bike get FIXED PHIL LOOKING AT YOU ;) :-P

Weekend and cheap do not go together when discussing track days. Just pull a sickie.

Hello all!
A thread with the magic word in it. I can't resist! I'm in!
Rockingham sounds good too - especially on the 16th.
