What time at the Shire?
Supposed to doing a car boot sale in the morning...
I'm not sure and it depends on what option.
If it's the start ealier one then we can decide. If it's the start later and ride direct to the meet point then it depends on when the massive plan to be there. I don't have that information yet. I would have thought around 12-12:30 maybe.

Keen to start early and get as much out of the day as possible. If we are going to have a TV ride first and then meet with SoHo maybe we could set two meeting times to allow anyone who cant do the morning to catch up with us?
or directions to the lunch destination...
is this a meet to ride from a - b just to get food ....
or...
are we trying to get a ride from shire to the ace then a ride to the food ...
where ever that may be..
i dont care..........i want to ride...

hold on there..... if this is going to be a TV rideout that means....:smt081
we lose people on the way to meet SoHo lot then lose more people
when were going to get food..............
Let me make it more simple for people.
If you want to ride down to the Ace from the Shire to meet some of the Soho guys who are riding into our neck of the woods. Then meet me at the Shire around 9:30 - 10:00. I believe the plan is to leave the Ace around 10:30 - 11:00 and head up by whatever route they have decided to arrive in Wendover for a lunch stop. After meeting up with TVSF we will then take up the reigns of the ride and ride the route given to us by ogden. At Wantage we'll take the very tasty road down into Newbury and on to my house. Here we will have bacon sandwiches and coffee / tea (all free of charge) before everyone bomb bursts back home.
Alternatively you can meet directly at Shire and ride up to the meeting point (Wendover) and do the second part and still have bacon sandwiches and tea or coffee (and still free of charge).
The only thing not 100% sure at the moment is the exact meeting place and time at Wendover. Other than this I think everything is clear enough. No?

Probably wont affect us as this article relates to surrey but we need to be cautious as there may be extra police presence this weekend (http://www.epsomguardian.co.uk/news/topstories/display.var.2238591.0.riders_warned_of_weekend_bli tz.php).

It's normal. This weekend denotes "the start of the biking season" for all those summer weekend riders.

Cooo-eck. So many choices. Hmm, not too keen on meeting at the Ace as I find it a little boring and need to save pennies on fuel etc. Besides really crap roads there and huge queues for food and beverages. I will meet you all at the start point of the other ride bit. Provided I can find the place.
has anyone from the SoHo mob said that they are coming.......8-[
Yes, start early and meet up with Soho massive for lunch. http://forums.sv650.org/images/polls/bar2-l.gifhttp://forums.sv650.org/images/polls/bar2.gifhttp://forums.sv650.org/images/polls/bar2-r.gif 1 (http://forums.sv650.org/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=4028)25.00%

I don't know what to do Ride to the Ace (35 miles) Ride to Shire ( 32 miles) ride to Wendover ( 4 miles) then ride back from Newbury ( 50 miles) I sure hope I can get away for the rideout.
TK there will be atleast 7 SoHo riders it's not been advertised as a big rideout so keep it on the QT

Just checked the weather:
Saturday: Sunshine all day
Sunday: Light rain all day
Monday: Light rain/heavy rain showers
Tuesday WHEN WE'RE BACK AT WORK: Sun, sun sun sun!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRR.
Change of plan. Primarily becuase I got it wrong and can't understand English.
The meet point for the other group is going to be Wallingford around 12:00 - 12:30 for lunch and then carry on from there.
Or, go direct to the Ace and start from there. I shall be going direct to the Ace. Anyone who wants a later start can meet at Wallingford. Exact location to be confirmed. From there a ride in a westward direction to finish at my house for food & drink.
May or may not see people on Sunday at the ace... stuff depending

Won't be free till 1ish so will meet at the Shire or ride to Wallingford and meet you at the lunch stop..
Dan, what time are you thinking of heading off?
I've had to change things around somewhat.
The meeting place for those not going to the Ace for the start will be the Pack Horse Inn. Chazey Heath in Reading. Details here (http://www.britishpubguide.com/pubs/5408.html) The planned arrival time is between 12 and 12:30.
The idea is to stop here for lunch and then move on for a ride around the local area and then back to mine for bacon sarnies and drinks. If anyone who is not wishing to go to the Ace for the start but wants to do the afternoon run, it would be appreciated if you could get to the pub a little ahead of time to bag a couple of tables. If not don't worry about it. I expect the departure time from the pub will be around 1 - 1:30.
Anyone got any questions, let me know.
has anyone from the SoHo mob said that they are coming.......8-[
Expect the SoHo lot to be organising by pm
I hope to be at the Pack horse by 1:30 if I can

I've got a party to goto this evening and am staying over. So the ride tomorrow depends on how wasted I get. If I don't show, I'm throwing up. ;)

Hi all, I've been rousing the Soho rabble into action - it looks like there will be about 15 of us coming from the Ace (plus any of the TVers who are coming there first) - so there could be quite a large group!
If anyone is able to bag a bunch (collective noun for furniture) of tables and chairs that would be great, as Si says.
If not, I'm hoping that if we leave the Ace promptly at 10:30am then we should get to the pub for midday-ish.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I am cleared for this! Need to try and fix my speedo first, but my makeshift plate is holding so I will be at the pack horse for lunch and then have a nice ride. Si, can I try those leathers on afterwards at yours please mate?

BIG thanks to Big Ape, Mrs Ape, and the Apelets for their wonderful hospitality, and to Spiderman who was TEC for the ride.
Ride home up the A34 took all of like 20 minutes! I thought Saeed was going to follow me all the way home, cos I was expecting him to turn off before Oxford but he didn't

sorry i missed the sarnies.....
just filled myself up with muffins and cakes...:smt106
A big thank you for today. Thanks to Si and his caterers, lovely butties and cakes. And thanks to Cazza for doing her bit at the Soho end.
I think a good day had by all and hopefully many more to come.
BTW, The bike is clean again..........
Oh yeah, and the bestest bit was the chalked welcome mat when we got to the Apes place: "Welcome Bikers" in lovely bright kiddy-colours!
After the swarm of bikes left there was one little thing left on the drive.
This.

I know it's not from my bike and it is a Suzuki one. So I'd suggest those of you who have Suzuki's, check your disks for missing bolts.

If his bike has a brake disk bolted onto it, then quite possibly.

Also from a foot peg mount possibly (can't remember but it looks farmiliar)? We did remove nicks RH rider peg a week or so ago as it was loose? Could be one has worked loose again.
Looks like you all had fun, wish I could have made it. Got in some good miles around Norfolk, until a faulty side stand switch halted play :-( much swearing and cursing later I'm back home though. Surely a fair weather, 11k bike should not have electrical gremlins!!! I'm not buying another Suzuki!

Nope. It's a disk bolt. Trust me.

Thats worrying!!
I've posted a picture in Soho telling them to all check as well!
Slightly delayed response (not been on the forum for a couple of days) - big thank you from me too to Simon and Jo for the great hospitality.
And to the mini Apes, of course. I can't remember the last time I ate a fairy cake with orange icing and blue sponge! :D
Great that so many people were able to make it - and the rain didn't turn into anything more than a drizzle.
Ah well, looks like my loss for missing out. Couldn't get away from smoking my pipe while wearing my slippers and discussing the merits of Pan Euros over BMWs. Hopefully next time then :D
