Aren't they closing the whole thing down soon?

Apparently, which is a shame on so many levels. It's very photogenic....

Some cracking B roads around Jodrell Bank. Go past it on me way to parents in Northwich. Almost 20 miles of bendy B roads
A place I've always wanted to visit................better get a move on if it's closing down:(
Im thinking about a Jodrel Bank tonight as well
Sorry had to be done. But seriously is it to close ? pity I believe it was the first western instrument to pick up sputniks signal and track it.

I think the story is that the Sputnik launch was so secret and they received a telex from the Russians asking them to listen at certain coordinates but they didn't know what for. All at a time when the Russians weren't speaking to Western scientists.
