I have scanned these after finding them lurking at the bottom of a box in my bedroom.
My Introduction to motorcycling Suzuki X5

Suzuki X7, bought as 2 boxes of bits, this was the 1st incarnation (note the air horns lol)

Same bike, but a lot more time spent. I loved this bike & caned it everywhere, it was off the road about twice a month having engine bits fitted to it :)

My Fated Laverda, bought this to show my mates that I could ride a sport bike. It was a nice motor when it went, just hardly ever did, so part exed it for a Kenny Roberts rep XJR400 at DK, best thing i did.

Why? They wouldn't be worth that much unless they were returned to original state.:)
Now if I had my old Ducati 350 or 900ss.
Crash bars. What ever happened to them?8-[

Here we go, a couple more.
Anyone remember "sidewinder" sidecars? It's how I passed my test. Fitted to a GS250t Suzuki which I bought for the grand sum of a socket set :):thumright: I ripped the sidewinder off as soon as I passed my test, dangerous things but a good way to flount the law at the time :) I've got hair as well there :thumright: That's my middle son Matty that now rides a CBF600 & CBR600, start em young I say :)

Honda CB200. Bought this off a bloke down the road for ?10, it was immaculate except for the silencers.

This was a pile of cr*p, but I was given it by my brother to get to work on because I was hard up.

My XJR400 & GPZ500, both good bikes, but the Yam just started to rot in front of your eyes. Traded it in for my 1st SV

Sidewinders? Seemed a good idea. A lightweight leaning (IIRC) token sidecar, but I guess it was a huge incentive to pass your test then and turn it into frisbee or something.:smt017
Glad I'd already passed my test by then

It did actually lean, but if you banked around a right hander the thing used to bounce up & down like a mad one :( Didn't do much for the handling :D
Great pictures there, never seen that sidewinder thing before though
Looks big enough for someone to hop on and have a ride too though :D

The "floorpan" was just a piece of plastic & would probably hold a bag of sugar :).
I tried to find something about it on the net & they are still building them, but they have now gone very 21st Century.

Never hurd of a sidewinder, why did you have to have 1 on when doing a test? Would make filtering a pain.

IIRC you could ride any size bike with sidecar as a learner, so they developed the sidewinder because it which was techically a sidecar and meant you could still lean/ride normally. Im dont think they had to keep them on for the test though?

I think the sidewinder was sold in response to the new maximum125 cc limit for learners in the 80's. All the peeps who had a 250 could get one of those rather than sell em. So I imagine that you'd have to leave them on to take the test.
Enclosed front brake on the Honda. Just asking for brake fade.:(

Yes I took my test with the sidewinder fitted. It was classed as a sidecar, so had to leave it on.
It came off as soon as I got home when I passed :)
