Dirk has got himself into Kazakhstan ( good effort ) but has taken another tumble, in soft sand this time. I've ridden through Kazakhstan myself and can confirm that the 'roads' are appalling. Anyway, he thinks he may have broken his ankle and he's off to to a doctor some 120 k's away ( in a lada! ). Don't know about the bike. Kazakhs are lovely people so he'll be well looked after.
Will keep you posted.

Fingers crossed it's only a sprain.

Aw no thats a shame. I suppose you can't really continue if you have to be in plaster for several weeks :( what a damned shame.
oh no, thats terrible news mate, how you gonna get back ? and what about your bike ? if you can read this let us know you,re ok .
Fcktyvich:cry: That's too bad. Real sorry, Dirk.
It's not the ankle but a bone in the foot.
Foot's now in a plaster cast.
Attemping to get the bike shipped back to th uk. Was quoted $80000. Erm....right.
Still, I may get back in time for watching the TT.
Sorry to hear that Dirk, is the bike rideable, can't you find someone to ferry it home?
Check your breakdown/recovery insurance. Pete's clearly states that if he is injured they will recover his bike.

Can you sell the bike there for a tidy profit? You only bought it for the trip anyway didn't you?

Bad luck Dirk! Hope you get the bike sorted.
Real Shame Dirk, but hope it's been good up to now (as said) on your long travels and you can get back OK unless you can enjoy yourself out there & heal.

Sorry to hear about your foot/trip Dirk :(

Dirk's probably already aware of this, but if you sell the bike abroad you run into trouble re import duty/carnets.
