New tyres/suspension

Hi all,

Just thought I would point out that my SV was in Saltire Suzuki in Edinburgh today and had them fit 2 new Pilot road 2's and upgrade the fork internals to K-tech Springs and 15w oil. Initial impressions are that the front end is totally transformed and although early days I feel the grip from tyres is much improved. A highly recommended upgrade!!!

Dude...I've been running pilot Road 2's on he zx6r and done 10K on them. These are truly phenomenal tyres. They hardly look worn. Zero chicken strips on the left, 3mm on the right.

Had corsa 3's last year and was getting betweenn 1400 and 1600 on them. My riding if anything has got harder on the PR2s.

They are phenomenal in the wet.

Last Tuesday was out with my mate Jim - who is racing tomorrow in the 400 class at Knockhill... He was on a Gixxer 600 me on the zx6r and we were going through the sma glen in the wet. He was amazed. He was holding me up - and this guy is a racer. In the dry I matched him as best I could.

PR2s are just simply sensational tyres for all round fast road riding.

Will go out for a long spin today to push them a bit more but certainly made the bike feel more planted yesterday

I'm treating myself to a pair of BT 014's. I will report back when I've scrubbed them in.

I've been using PR2's over the last year and they were great.

Fork springs and 2 litres of oil were ?85 odd and the labour was ?110 plus vat

Was out today and such a HUGE difference! Far more confidence in grip and handling now

I meant to post this in this thread, but I accidentally put it here :rolleyes: Too late for Endellion but if anyone else wants to sort their springs and oil give me a shout, always happy to help out, do it for you or back you up while you do it. I accept Jack Daniels and gluten free biscuits as payment :D

Awww Northwind if only I had known! I am going to attempt a gixer thou shock replacement for the back if you want to help me? (Cause i don't really know what I am doing!!)

Yeah, can do, I've never done one on a pointy SV (just done curvies and, er, a Ninja) but it's all the same job really. Just as long as you pick one that fits :D The only hard part is suspending the rear end really but I can just stick it in the lift and it makes things easy.

Though, having said that I'm not sure when I'd be able to do it, but in theory I'd be happy to help.

You may well be dissapointed in the BT014,s Tony. I had them on the Daytona and they were pretty rubbish, not the worst tyre i've ridden on but still not what i would expect from a "sports" tyre

I got the same advice this morn from another source so I opted for BT020's for longevity. Ive never had Bridgestone's so I wanted to try them

Was going to suggest the Dunlop "Roadsmart"s. They have had some cracking blurb so far, and seem fine to this novice;)

:cool::cool: You could've tried the new 021's they've had a few good reviews so far.

I've had a few pairs of Bridgestones and have liked them all, cant go wrong with them

020s are still good even though they're ancient, I've got mine back on the rear of mine and I can barely tell the difference. The main benefit is that the 020 is flatter so I have smaller chicken strips than with the Strada :D
