no bike tax reminder?

i just noticed i have no tax! the tax expired end of may and i have had no reminder? i've just been on DVLA and taxed it online, is there any penalty for not taxing on time?

If it only expires end of May, you will not have got a reminder yet. I didn't think you could tax online it more than 15 days in advance

I also thought there was a grace period where you'd be OK, but I'm not 100% sure on this.

I got stopped last year on the 2nd of the month while stopping at the post office,to get my tax.I was given a stern talking to.

Yes there is a fine, not sure how much and it a myth about having a grace period. You'll most likely get away with it, it's only a short period of time and you rectified the problem without the DVLA having to take any action (reminder).

If anyone was to get stopped with no tax, not MOT, etc I would like to point out that not receiving a reminder is no excuse as it is your responsibility to insure you vehicle is road legal.

I completely missed taxing a car for a few months so i went to the local dvla to tax it and was told that i didn't have to pay for the missing months if i didn't want to, apparently it was ok as long as you hadn't been caught! So i didn't pay and never heard a word.
