Maria has a golf, which is pretty nice, smooth and comfortable.

Can't filter on it though, so for the moment I'll keep on biking it around and not bother to get a car lisence. :D

Whats crap about your tin can lozzo?

Alternator packed up 3 miles into a 120 mile journey to see the new burd, had it recovered by low-loader to home and started searching for a replacement. Found one this morning at a local Jap car breakers, fitted it and that too was fubar, so took it back and managed to get hold of another chap who dug one out especially for me on the BH weekend. Got that one home from 12 miles away only to find it's for a different model of Micra and won't fit. Now I can't get hold of anyone to help me so I ain't got a car to use.

My SV is in having the exhaust link pipe modified and I can't get to it cos the bloke who has it is away this weekend, and I'm running around on a 1981 Yamaha 250 single, not ideal. I am one thoroughly p1ssed off Lozzo today. Something tells me I should have added the CBR600 to my insurance when I got the daytime MOT, then at least I could have used that even if it doesn't have lights or indicators.

Carol wants me to learn to drive to, so she put me on her car insurance and gave me a couple of lessons.

It was alright, but frankly cars are boring and I get so car sick, I hate them.

Carols car though is lovely, it is a Toyota Corolla thingie and is very reliable, the SV though is a billion times more fun and so much prettier to look at, especially when herself is sat on the front.

So my advice is this, forget cars, become a lesbian! Much more fun. :smt077

I do, but only two of them are road legal. One of those is in for modifications to the exhaust, the other is a single cylinder 1981 built 250. All the others are either 'works in progress' or trackbikes.

SV650S - In to have exhaust link pipe modified
Yamaha 250 - currently the only vehicle I can use
GSXR600 K2 - Racebike, Never been registered for road.
CBR600 - Trackbike with daytime MOT but no tax or insurance
GSXR750L - trackbike in bits (being sold like that too)
TS50X - In bits being rebuilt
TS50X - In bits being rebuilt

I think that's all of them, there may be more lurking in the garage but I can't be ar$ed to look.

Ah well - never mind - the main thing is that you can get on two wheels - better than the car or shanks' pony anyway! :D

You're just not using enough bungies.

The only reason I'm considering getting a car license is because my pa says I can use the works van to go to trackdays :-P

They're just a steel cage tool to put stuff into, and cost a fortune to feed a week on petrol. To get you from a to b in the cold winter they're fine, but summertime they just clog up the roads. Half the drivers don't know how to drive them properly anyway..

I need a weee cheap car to transport a mountain load of gear and tools for work purposes.Never spent more than £2K on a car and I don't see why I should now.

Big car = big depreciation and costs. The markets are full of them and are going for wallys now cos they're going to get clobbered with £300 - £400 tax discs soon. A mate of mine has an '04 Mitsubishi Shogun 4x4 diesel. He just paid £400 for a years road tax disc for it last wek. Stuff that....

my only ever car was a ford capri 2.0 which i had for about 6 months before selling to get another bike. Was fun, but, pah, who needs cars!!

My first car was a 2.0S 1984 Jade Green (only year they did this colour). It was fab, spent loads on it and got little back, but did many miles and went to a lot of fun places in it. I remember on a first date I picked a girl and and took her to this little country pub. Blokes next to our table were telling jokes and did the 'difference between a Capri and hedgehod - hedgehog has the *****s on the outside' gag. She smirked.

I've got a 2003 Honda CR-V, one of those bad boy 4x4 although they aren't bad, not that big and gives better fuel consuption than the Focus we traded it in for. It was great for our France/Germany/Austria/Liechtenstein family adventure.

I also have a rocket of a car, a 98 KA (or as my nephews would call it the Gay A). It's rubbish but its OK.

I used to be so in to cars, knew all the specs and details and just loved driving right up to when I was 35 and discovered bikes are faster and cheaper.

I 70% agree with you Dizzy. If it wasn't for other people's cars I wouldn't be able to get half as many lifts as I currently do when getting to various voluntary places. They are a bit of a necessity here in Wales, where nothing is really except in walking distance (except actually here in Aberystwyth) and it rains a lot :D

However, if I could afford to get a licence and a car I would get on with it, just because it's a bonus these days whenever people are looking to employ you.

But as it is, a bike would be much better suited to me, especially when I can just go to places on my own and not have to worry about people wanting to come with me, so no added responsibility :cheers::cheers:

My car history is bad :( and has cost me a fortune.

In order of cars I have had...

205 - Engine failed
306 - Suspension fell apart all the time for now reason, the wheel fell off at one point, literally spent over £1000 kepping it on the road
205 Gti - Rarely ran right
106 Rallye - Best car I have ever had, had it 3 years bought it for £3900, sold it for £3800 and only ever replaced the tyres.
Laguna 1.9DCi - Fell apart, engine was slowly blowning up, turbo failed, gearbox failed, cost me £1500+ to get OK, then flooged it on the cheap at a loss of £1900
Current company car has had 31k put on it so far in a year and is going strong, although I ground it out coming out of a site the other day and its been making funny noises since.

I hate cars and will never actually own one ever again lol

Lozzo

Because I only bought it the other day.

Do you intend to ever race it?!?!

Nope, only trackdays for the Gixer, its racing life is over.

It looks like my CBR600 is getting prepped for racing in Thunderbikes with Danny Imberg at the helm. The CBR doesn't need a great deal doing to it to make it race-ready. I doubt it'll win anything, but it'll be a laugh.

I would always make sure that I have access to a car, even if I didn't own one.
Purely because I'm also a Mountain Bike fan, and unfortunately, you can't get bike racks to fit on the back of Motorbikes! lol.

At the moment I've got a Toyota Yaris TS. Lovely little thing; reliable, very powerful for it's weight (Same 0-60 as a 2 litre Ford Focus Sport) and practical too.
Also handy for transporting motorbike parts when needed :p

Good move, but if you go back on your word, buy another old Peugeot and keep us all amused, ok.
