I have an old windsurfer board etc, basically I don't want it any more.

Its an old heavy training board with a 1 piece mast and a rope-on boom ... it does work, but well, its a bit like an old rat of an MZ would be to the bike world .. does the job, but hardly desirable!

I can't be bothered to sell it, I don't really want to take it down the dump and let the b-stewards down there cash in on it ... SO ...

There is a place where a lot of windsurfers go round here, I was going to use it one final time, then thinking of leaving it by the carpark/beach huts with a 'Free to a good home' sign on it ...

But what if no one wanted it?? It'd be like fly tipping ...

What would you do?? (bearing in mind I don't want the hassle of selling/giving it away normally (eBay, paper etc)).

My two options are the dump or leaving it there with a 'free to a good home' sign ...

I'm sure someone will pick it up but, as hovis said, maybe a club could make better use of it.

A uni club especially. Always looking for new equipment. or just hand it into a charity shop, although I should think that would be a bit of a random thing to come across but I bet someone would appreciate it :D

Can you not go down there and pass the word about ... leave ya phone number, ya not fly tippin that way and someone may snap ya hand off.

Or find a surfing museum if its that bad LOL hehehe

I am giving it away ... I don't want any hassle ...

I don't want to be finding out about clubs, running around delivering it (that costs me time and money at the end of the day), waiting for phonecalls/someone to collect it ... it is probably worth what £20-30 tops and that is only if someone wants it ... I'd rather just ditch it ...

It is big and bulky, I am not sure the old dears down the local charity shop would take kindly to me dropping it off there!! :D I did give away a video recorder and loads of old bike videos to a charity shop last week mind, coz again, getting rid of stuff I don't want/need, but can't be bothered to sell! :)

As I said, I see two clear options ..

1: On way home after using it next, stop off at the dump and leave it there (was gonna go today, but not windy enough) ...
2: Leave it at beach when I use it next

Just wondering, but is there actually anything you do without asking the Org first :?: I sometimes wonder how you managed to get where you are in life without the help of others on here. Maybe there is someone else out there that is now breathing a sigh of relief as the questions of which socks to put on in the morning are now directed here instead of at them.

I don't know, what does the .org think!?!? :D

Oh and I do like to put up at least 1 fairly random post a day, its fun to see people responses and to see people morel conscience!!! :)

And don't worry, I bore real people to death with this sort of stuff too ... but if I didn't what else is there to talk about?!!?

What do you talk about to people?

Put a sign on it saying "FOR SALE - ?250"...........soon go :)

?2.50 should do the trick round here!! :D

I got rid of 2 very old push bikes on there, and the people collected! Very hassle free and went to a good home! (As they were going to spend the time doing them up for their kids)

I'd rather eBay than advertise to .. but as explained, I don't want the hassle of dealing with the trade ... its funny, in the past, some of the most hassle I have ever had has been from stuff I have either given away fro free or for pittance! So now,if it isn't something I can easily unload on the charity shop, I tend to just chuck it ...

I've decided to take it down the dump. I don't want to leave it at the beach and then it not get taken away ASAP and I simply can't guarantee that and I don;t want the embarrassment of people seeing me driving away after having left/dumped it there!! ... If there is someone else there when I go (prolly tomorrow now) then I'l have a quick chat and see if they want it or know someone that might ... if they do, then I'll leave it with them, if they don't the it is next-stop dump and wind surf board heaven :smt059 :D

2: Leave it at beach when I use it next
If you leave it at the beach then it'll probably just get used as firewood that very night, especially if the weather stays as it has been of late. This would be a waste when someone who could get a lot of enjoyment from it could do so. Surely if you put a 'for sale' /'free to good home' sign on it (which would take you all of a minute ) then at least someone would be able to make use of it.

But it's yours to do what you wish to do with it, just my 2p :)

I would prefer to leave it there and someone else get a freebie and enjoy it, my fear is that if no one does, then I have essentially just 'dumped' something on the beach and that would be wrong!!

Take it down there, put a sign on it selling it at a tenner with yr mobile number - whilst you are there.
When someone calls, just tell them they can have it.

Like the idea, but I will either be out on the board or going home!! ;) I don't think answering my mobile at see is a good idea either!! :D

I could put a sign on the van saying the board is for sale/free whilst I am by the van putting the board together/taking it apart mind  ... not a bad idea
