ps3 or xbox 360

I'm in the market for a new console, seen as my n64 and ps2 are gettin a little tired, so i'm thinking xbox 360 or ps3, and a copy of gta4 ;)

kinda not sure which one i should get, is gran turismo 5 gonna be avaliable on xbox 360? so which ones gonna be the best one, considering its probably gotta last me another 20years ha

My brother has the PS3. It isn't compatible with PS2 games!! However, you do get a blueray player which is slowly pushing DVD off the scene (isn't it?). GT5 is much more realistic, it's much more fiddly both when you're racing and the game set up, by the way. Can't really comment on the xbox 360 'cause I've never really played one. Hope this helps.

I'm currently having the same dilema, I've talked to a few people, one of which has a PS3 and a 360

The advice I'm getting is get a 360 as :

1. Its cheaper than a PS3
2. The online gaming on the xbox is better
3. Theres more games available for the xbox

It really comes down to what kind of games you want.

JRPG's, Games to play by yourself - PS3

Games with your mates after the pub - XBOX360.

Personally I wouldnt by an Xbox as I wont support Microsoft, the Wii has a little interest and when I have a spare couple of hundred I will probably get one.

The PS3, for its Blu-Ray capabilities is the most tempting to me, but I am waiting until they ditch the Sixaxis controllers for Dualshock4 ones in the bundles.

I have both - I prefer the PS3 because its slicker, the xbox console itself and the GUI look like they were designed by a comittee. Gameplay wise, both as good as each other. Xbox live is considered superior, though I dont care for the achievement points system that kinda displays if you are a cool player or simply suck like me.
I will be selling the 360 soon, might start a thread on here for the mighy combined orger clevnesses to help me value it, theres quite a few bits.

I'm thinking of a ps3 because of the Blu-ray.

A ps3 is approximately the same price as a Blu-ray player so why not get one that plays games and all the extra bits as well. Have to say the actual games aren't the main point for me so really my reccomendation of a games console is a bit irrelevant... Actually I might delete this post;)

Im very very tempted to get an X-Box 360, mainly because i want GTA:IV, and the idea of playing Call of Duty whilst shouting at people sounds stupidly fun.

I went through this a few months back. I bought the PS3 in the end for the following reasons;


1)XBox is microsoft.

2)Xbox has had quite a few bad write ups about reliability

3)PS3 has built in updatable bluray player


I know the xbox has got more games but it was released a year before the PS3. The Xbox also has better multiplayer facilities but i think the PS3 will catch up and I mostly use the PC for multiplayer.

I have a 360, it's great. I will probably get a PS3 in the future, but not until they are much cheaper.

I have a 360, better games and better online abilities.................for now

Ps3 may start clawing it back but not for a year or two yet, no developers want to work with the technology.

The ps3 is also open to hacker and people who want to modify games to cheat which really ruins gameplay, xbox are really on top of things in that respect.

Get a 360 ;) then buy a ps3 in a couple of years.

i have an xbox 360 elite which i would recommend. have played mates PS3 and to be honest they are equally as good. like someone said earlier would come down to what games you like based on the ones exclusive to that console really. i perfered the games on the xbox and its controllers is better but its all personal. don't think you will be disappointed with either.

I have the 360 Elite and wont touch a PS3 . I thoroughly enjoy the online gaming aspect of it all . It`s a very well supported console with downloads etc , reliability isn`t an issue anymore with the new motherboards , Graphically theres jack all difference anyway as the developers are lazy and use the same models and textures for PS3 and 360 . I`ve had an xbox since launch and have many friends and a great community website I`m part of (much like this place) and Sony just doesn`t offer that for me . Gran Turismo will never appear on a rival system , but then again we have Forza2 which in my opinion offers the same amount of fun but with added tweakability to the cars and you can paint them too with your own designs and decals . At the end of the day the decision is ultimately yours , don`t be bullied by other peoples opinions , if you want Gran Turismo then buy a PS3 ......... but I adore my 360 for what it offers me and my lifestyle . And let`s just say Blu-Ray AND HD-DVD aren`t all they are cracked up to be so don`t let that influence your decision , go for the console for the games it can offer you , not the ancillaries .

i got a wii form argos yetsreday with stacks of extras for 297.

absoulty brillinat fun.....i only got it for my boy as he split his head open and i fealt guilty for leaving a window open that he done it on.
made me feel much better after tho
