went out for a hoon and tried to get my knee down
now its not like I'm not there as i have less than 1/2 inch chicken strips, but i just don't seem to have the confidence to stick my leg out, the sliders on my feet always touch and I've managed to destroy a pair of boots through it already :(

are you puting your feet on the right place on the peg? balls of your feet on it, not the bridge part?
When Im casually riding and my feet or resting on the bridge part I scrape my toes going around corners really easily. The problem is sovled by moving you food backwards on the peg.
If your already doing this, then ur knee should be on the groud soon enough, because thats pratically scraping the pegs! =D>

I find it easier to scrape my knee round a corner than my toe.
On the other hand, I never accidentally scrape my knee unless the rest of me is following.

Did you watch my 'How 2 get ya kneedown' vid?!!? :)
It was done with a completely different agenda so forgive the production being a bit carp (the whole idea was to do it completely off the cuff), but what I say/point out in it is genuine mistakes by novice KDers :) ... if you are scraping toes frst, it is coz you have incorrect foot and/or body positions!! ;)
digs out clip ...
here we go ... Blue's how to get your kneedown vid (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qhVdHTSqL9s) :)

safety first young man!!
Wideboy, after watching the training vid, you might find this useful too, its a couple of laps of Cadwell with my camera mounted on the rear, so you can see how I move around on the bike positioning myself for the turns. Even if you learn nothing, I think it is a cool vid!!

Which one?? (onboard or how2?)
Here is another rear view ... this time at Brands indy ..
Due to the nature of the track/flow of the corners and slightly diff camera position too, I think this one might be even better to see me shifting about. 8)
6 more mins of watching my @ss!! (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eCUpH-ht0_Y) :D

I got asked why bikers put their knee down - but it was a rhetorical question, in the form of 'is it because they cant ride properly ?'

yeah it is my feet position, the middle of my foot (the curved bridge part) is on the pegs. will try this next time i go out on the bike
p.s. i watched your vid a while ago blue but wasn't paying attention, maybe some brolly dollies would help me ;)

Yeah that is gonna kill ground clearance!! :(
You don't rally need the for KD, but some rearsets might be a good idea too as they give a more natural 'proper' posture 8)

i accidently got me knee down today on a spirited ride after work!! was brilliant even if i had done it before on track :D (call me stupid whatever, it wasn't intentional and wasn't at risk to anyone but me).

Believe it or not there was not a mark on my sliders though, gutted lol.

first time i did KD there was hardly a mark on my sliders :( had to go and do it again and again and again and again :)
Now then, I get one knee down more than the other due to my dodgy ankle and having better confidence in left hands to right..... so only one of my sliders is seriously worn, is it wrong to swap them over to save spending £20+ on some new ones so soon and to get some wear in the other?

To be fair why are you wearing them out (on the road I presume we are talking here) ... sure its a right of passage to be able to do it/know you can do it, but its not like you need to be doing it enough on the road to wear your sliders out!! ;)
What boots do you have???
My Alpinestar Supertechs are almost like SKI boots ... its not like I can really use my ankle anyway ;) ... i.e. I am not sure a dodgy ankle should be impairing you ...
Are you sure you are 'mirroring' yourself correctly

The roads around here have that really abrasive sand paper type stuff on the corner, it rips my slider to bits even with the lightest touch down.

Crap ones, my ankle stop me moving my foot much at all on the bike hence one side my leg doesnt really move much from the tank, the pain isnt to bad but it can twinge badly with the slightest wrong movement, so I tend to just not do anything with it for fear of it twinging and unsettling the bike mid corner.
Are you sure you are 'mirroring' yourself correctly
I know I'm not for the above reason :( Plus the slight confidence issue going one way to the other anyway.

As I said, my supertechs are pretty solid ... it might be a little misleading, but I really don't think I move my ankle much at all due to the boots.
Try strapping your ankle up with tight bandage and try again ...
I see your bigger problem is finding a suitable LH turn ;)

Stick them on eBay, I'd love to see how much you get for them!! :D
I thought about doing this one ... back when I was racing I was getting through quite a few sets, so I thought about eBaying them ... if I could get ?20 for a fried set or even ?15, that would keep me in new sliders 8)
I gaurantee some warriors would buy them aswell.....There is one guy I know of at the local weekly pub meet with 1.5" chicken strips on his 748 with 2900 miles on the clock. I have followed him loads and he is not very quick.....yet has completely worn sliders both sides.....I put money on them being off ebay ;)
Someone do it lol
THere is a big market on ebay for used sliders & yes I bought some but only because they were cheaper than new ones. So if I can't get my KD they're not going to wear out are they? so may as well use cheap ones so i can at least attempt it.
£15-£20 is a bit hopeful. try £5 delivered
