does it turn over?
If it will not turn over on the starter but will bump start, the it is almost certainly the safety switch on the clutch lever. Ideally, remove the switch with a phillips number 1 srewdriver (easier if you slacken the lever clamp and rotate it to upside down) and give it a good flush out with WD40. If you have a multimeter, or continuity tester, you can check the contacts are closed when the clutch is pulled in.

I disagree on the latter part of that. Granted the clutch switch can be annoying, but I'd rather have it than leave the sidestand down & ride.
As for the OP, a little more detail as to what the bike is/isn't doing would be helpful. :) Could be the switch, could be one of the fuses, could be HT cables or pretty much any other bit of wiring.

Hi thanks for the replies it was the wire that connects under the clutch lever that had come off , must have come off when I washed the bike so one to watch out for in the future. Thanks again.
