Well, despite my best efforts and new diet and gym routine, according to the 'experts' I'm almost Obese!

I checked out some dieting sites and contacted a company that work out BMI's etc. I entered my age, height and weight.

Age: 30
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 12st 12lbs

BMI 27.2

"Dear Dan, I'm afraid you are grossly overweight"

With a BMI of 30 I would be classed a Obese. Here is a pic I took today, I look a bit pasty so sorry if you've just eaten. I take a pic each week to see the difference in body shape/size. Granted, I'm not ripped yet but I've made huge improvements in 1 week, but grossly overweight! C'mon. We live in a messed up world.

And this was me one week ago. Sorry to keep posting half naked pics of me but I'm just chuffed to bits with my results, despite being almost OBESE! Pfffft!

Besides, I love being half naked.

I've never been a fan of BMI...

Muscle weighs more than fat, volume for volume. FACT.

To be honest, no. I don't even care what weight I am. I go by how I look. Hence the weekly pictures. I just think sometimes the whole BM thing can really make people feel poo about themselves. As long as you look okay and are happy with yourself then it's all good. I'm just not even close to be happy about how I look.:smt088

baph, it's all good, I have an extra large...................pair of moobs.

I know, I know. It's all those Brittanie burgers!

I have along way to go to get where I want to be. I guess you have to be a bit of a poser to be worried about how you look, I always had my kit off when I was a kid, got in trouble at school for streaking in the playground!! I try to at least keep my under garments on these days, the heat from the cops is so not worth it. Unless they are chicks, then it all comes off. Wooooo! I hope Mrs Dan won't read this.

Hmm, I don't want to lose 2 stone, I would be a rake!! I will probably end up putting weight on but will lose the flab around my belly and love handles. I weight train really hard and also run a lot and cycle. My aim is to put on lean mass while stll shedding those fatty bits. We'll see next week how it goes. This week was really hard work, I should get used to it though.

That definitely is an improvement even in one week! Its almost tempting me to get on the case myself. Do you go to the gym for your weights? I can't be arsed to join a gym see.

Oddly, if you show the picture of you and say "I am obese" they look like moobs, but if you show the picture of you and say "I have been working out" they look like pecs. I think it is a lot to do with your mindset when viewing a picture.

I have cured you of obesity!

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

According to this one you are Normal Weight (although it did say something about yer ears :D).

No idea how age comes into being obese? when you are 110 can yer be 3 ton or something?

I used to get told by occupational in the fire brigade that i was 2 stone over weight
Yet was one of the fittest in my station, went to the gym 4 times a week, rugby training twice a week and a game on a saturday....go figure.
All these stats are made up by fat people sat on thier **** behind a desk all week :D

My BMI "score" implies i am borderline anorexic.

But...im not.

Its just me :D

Don't worry about BMI, it is overly-approximated and assumes too many things

Oh and I think I have the hots for you.

Aw Dan, you do look a bit glum.

But you certainly DO NOT look obese, overweight etc. It irritates me to think that 'official' guidance suggests that someone like you needs to shed some pounds. You'd look like a rake. Ignore it.

Nice to see you getting your waif-like features out for the camera again Dan, if you post one picture a week I'm sure someone could stitch together a nice gif for the end result? (or there could be a GM calendar in the making for Christmas?)

Anyway....

If its any consolation, I'm 3 stones heavier than you, and my BMI is 27.4

Lets be fat friends together.

Want a cake?

:smt044 There are several comments here that made me laugh so hard I just spat my low calorie, low taste, high fibre muesli all over my keyboard.

Thankyou. Although yesterday was my cheat day I had a bit too much tequila last night, I have deduced that there simply is no room at all for alcohol in my diet plan, even on a cheat day (I have 1 cheat day per week).

The gym is my way of destressing. I do have some rather large worries at the moment and when I'm in the gym all that fades away, for an hour at least.

What a thread!!! Superb.....

I found out my BMI the other day thinking that I would be a lot lighter than the last time I weighed my self 18 months ago.

I was 86Kg's and thought I would be well down on that as since then I have started running and normally run about 30-40 miles a week, have started to eat a bit healthier (although I don't watch what I eat).

Turns out I am 82Kg's and have a BMI of 27.5, therefore I am overweight.....well I am not a waif for sure but wouldn't describe myself as overweight - perhaps plump.

Yep. A friend who is a qualified GP hates it and refuses to use it. He is short and stocky and to use an often ill-appropriated (by fat knackers :D) term, "big boned", in that he does have very broad shoulders, very large rib cage for his size, etc. He is exceedingly fit and there isn't an ounce of fat on him, but he informs me that due to his natural shape, he could be dangerously thin, but still in a strictly technical medical sense of the word, obese.

i bought a wii fit just the other day and after all the flaffing about setting it up it came up that i was obese
Ok i am 16 stone and 5foot 11 but i do not classify my self as obese
Needless to say that i have not bothered to turn back on the wii fit and decided to go out riding my bike more as it doesn't tell me i am fat!!!
