U turns errrrrgghh, 4th time lucky for me. I had a clean sheet every time apart from the u turns...nerves got the better of me each time.
On the 3rd attempt the examiner said he really wished he didn't have to fail me, but the u turn....
on the 4th I told the examiner I was very nervous and what the previous one had said, he asked if I had the previous test sheeo on me and i showed him...he said you'll pas today love, and he took me on a road for my u turn so big you could turn a jumbo jet on it...what a nice man, I gave him a huge hug when he passed me
I haven't really done a u turn since, until recently that is, my confidence with Suzy is very high at the moment and i have been trying them again and am slowly winning.....4 years on!!!!

Twice in the car, and i failed the bike at the end of last year due to a faulty traffic light, which subsequently turned in to an argument with the tester... any way, waiting again now to see when i can re do it :(

2nd Time in car
1st time HGV
1st time IAM
1st time bike - although I did take my test in Cyprus and it consisited of going at walking pace with examiner, around figure of eight cones, then around the test centre for the emergency stop where I had to lock up the back brake skidding the bike to a controlled stop. 30 minutes short of a full week from first taking control of a bike to passing my test.

Passed at my 1st attempt. I really lucked out, last test of the day on a Friday was quite nervous as I'd been knocked off on a round-about whilst doing my training the day before. Took a leisurely ride to the test centre from my training place got lost turned up 10 mins late having been ragging the damn CG125 all round Greenford. Must of had a really short test as when I got back to the training centre everyone thought I'd failed as I was back so quick.

If you look here (http://www.dsa.gov.uk/atozdtcinfo.asp?cat=38), it tells you the average pass rate (although they are a bit out of date). The week I passed my school had 11/13 pupils pass. They assert that that is because they prepare people properly, and it is certainly much higher than the average of 65% at that particular test centre.

On my test I turned right very late on a filter right at the beginning of the ride and the oncoming traffic had to check it's progress. Rode the rest of the test convinced I had failed - just got a minor for it!

First time....2 minors  and he said he had to be picky to give me those, aparently I wobbled coming out of a junction and went abit wide, hence two minors but I dont remember it lol.

Failed my car test first time though :(

Hardly anybody passes at west bridgford test centre first time, the examiner is abit of a stiff.

Mine was 3rd time. I'm just a very nervous person & kept messing up in silly places. This was before the advent of CBT & DAS.
Putting a light on things though, I am now a DSA certified CBT Instructor, so for those people thinking that you wont pass, take heed :)

Passes 1st time back in the olden days, Jan '78. Man with clipboard sends you off round the block while he waits back at base. What was all that about? You were out of sight for most of the test. Then a bit of walking pace, an emergency stop, few highway code questions. Bob's your uncle!

Just looked at mine 1982. Now I feel old :smt086 Still had to steal my sister's bike as it was a 250. Mines was a CB400. Even then the cop was in a car behind us and had only just moved to the station that day. Can he follow us as he would get lost . Ended with, alls good just keep below the speed of 30 ops. We had been doing 50 at one stage.

Close to failing my train driving ticket first time by almost driving it in to the tune table pit.

Passed marine
Master 3000 tons 1st time
C Engineer 3000 tons 15000 KW 1st time. [about 20,000 hp]

Was going for helicopter but moved jobs. Bugger

Mine was third time! Failed the first test because some road marking at a junction box had worn away and I waited to turn in the wrong box. Apart from that, had no minors. He was a nice examiner too.

Second test was in Kingstanding Birmingham and was with a guy who looked like he belonged in red dwarf and had curly ginger hair. He was a complete tw*t and i new i wouldn't pass before i started. Was very rude and not friendly in the slightest. My cousin had a test with the same guy too but didn't show my patience and grabbed him around the neck and shoved him against a door (nice!) He had a few more goes at passing his test but got there eventually.

Last test was in southmead bristol with their only bike examiner, he was really cool, and very fair and i passed with 6 minors so not bad. First two tests were when i was 18 and a nutter! Now grown up at 24 so that's why i probably passed. Having a car licence 5 years previous also helped take the pressure off passing cos i already had transport. ;)

2 minors - was well chuffed. Although having said that, IMO being able to pass the test is different from being able to ride properly safely on the open flowing a-road without an instructor baby sitting you. Similar to the way so many graduates gain degrees with flying colours but are useless in the world of work.

1st time apparently I didnt do a life saver on the U turn, **** I so DID!

2nd Forgot the indicator... something id never done before EVER in a lesson :smt120

3rd time didnt make stupid mistakes.

On all 3 tests I only got 4 minors inc the majors in the first two... :(

Not to worry. I think its down partly to me getting nervous for tests, I hate tests so I tend to put a LOT of pressure on myself for no reason. If I didnt know I was being tested I dont think Id have an issue, infact my instuctor said the same thing.

I passed third time round. The first one when he asked me to pull over somewhere safe I pulled into a spot between a parked car and a learner driver, and then the learner driver started reversing so somehow I failed....
The second time I almost dropped the bike when pushing it in a u-turn. Mainly because I was really nervous.
Third time I had a different instructor (first two were with the same ********) and passed with 2 minors.

1st Time Car, CBT and DAS - In all cases I was happy with my instruction and wouldnt have accepted the tests f I was not confident in myself - but very nervous each time. In the car nervous about reversing round a corner, CBT nervous fall stop as I had never ridden a bike on the road before and DAS it was my U-Turn, and as the day came it was pouring with rain and never ridden in the rain before! - Nerves went out the visor as soon as I started the test. Smartarse, damn right!

Ask me after 11.30 on the 31st! Got 3 days training before hand and then the direct access on the friday. I've not riden a bike for 7 years so hopefully I'll be ok!

I passed my driving test first time, and got 50/50 for the bike theory, and 75% on the hazard perception.

Did the CBT when I was 16 on my 50cc, then promptly forgot that the CBT only lasted two years  So I was still riding around on a 125 at 19 which is when I did my test :D

CBT on the first day, all day training the second day and test the third day :) My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest while I was doing the U-turn, as that was the only thing I had trouble with in practice :D

33BHP restriction comes off on the 19th of July! (well legally, anyway :D)

2nd time back in '86. This was when you drove around the block and the examiner would jump out on you!!
Pased 2nd time with no indicators, having to use hand signals (something I have now become very adept at, but for totally different purposes).

I got bored of waiting for the email so went out for a ride! The SV is so much different to ride than the CCM trials bike I did my training & test on, but I like it!

I cant do it online because its not updated yet and comes up as being uninsured. I'm also not sure if I can do it online as its currently SORN.

Past first time (on a 125cc) about 3 weeks ago now, hence the new (to me) restricted SV.

Was riding for 14 months on a 125 before the test that I think made a world of difference. Two minors; one for hesitation moving off and one for a late signal.

P.S. Congrats Miles, it's a good feeling isn't it? :D
