View Full Version : Nurse! Nurse!
A few months ago I walked into a giant flowerpot in the dark and it cut my shin quite badly, just where the skin is thin over the bone. It sort of healed up but I only went and did it again and now it doesn't look too pretty. I put lots of Savlon on and it needed a plaster.
So here's where I need expert help. How do I get the bloody plaster off cos I just had a go and with hairy legs it's absolute agony:confused::(

Pour cold water on it and taut the skin as you`re taking the plaster off.... if you can use a sponge to soak up loads of water then hold it over the plaster for a good 5 to 10 mins. Take the plaster off really slowly so you don`t tear the skin

Think of it as a practice run for getting your legs waxed. Grit yer teeth and man up! :smt079
White spirit will dissolve the adhesive holding the plaster to your manly hairy legs....just don't get it on the wound:D

If it were me I've probably bathe it in hot water and try and clean it as much as possible removing any bits of dead skin and nasty stuff, stick a fresh dressing on with latherings of Sudacrem and then tootle off to the doctors........actually no thats a lie I'd personally only go to the doctors if it was going black

Wounds do sometimes "exude" a small amount of exudate... is the bodies natural reaction but it could be infected Ed. Keep an eye on it and if the skin around the wound starts to go red and angry looking get along to your GP. Treatment wise if you can buy anything with inadine in it ie. inadine soaked gauze put that on and cover it with a plaster. The inadine contains a natural antibiotic and it will dry the wound up nicely.

I'm off to Boots:)
BTW this is no band aid, this is a man plaster:smt022
B&Q for some pipe lagging to go over the edge of the plant pot or glow in the dark paint, as you appear not to learn too quickly.

Personally I would slather any creams on it , try a dry spray and let some air get to it , covering it in creams then putting it under a dressing may incubate any infection <-------- there`s

Nope not always.... the best wound healing environment is one that`s moist, sterile and warm thus occluding it with a plaster creates an ideal environment, plus exposing it can actually encourage infection. I agree with not applying creams, causes more harm usually but something inadine based will actually dry the wound out.

I did say "May" incubate infection .
I hear a heat gun is good for getting stickers off things. although it may bring some skin off as well.
I think pictures of the wound are in order :D

Baby powder. It dries up wounds pretty well. I always put some on my dog after he's been scrapping.
