Dont miss this opportunity !! Not too many bikes with this condition and history come up, but here's one that'll make a great purchase. Owned and used just by me for coming up to 8 years. My well looked after SV650 in the rarer lighter metallic blue with silver rather than black wheels. Looks great in as these pics show and a lot of bike for the money. Well worth a visit if you wish to inspect before purchase.
The bike can be viewed just about anytime here just 5 miles north of basingstoke. M3 J6 10 minutes, M4 junctions 11, 12 or 13 all about 20 mins.
Mature Owner for last 8 years
Only 22700 miles since new with 12k of these on gentle touring trips.
New chain and sprockets and battery replaced less than 250 miles ago.
SCOTTOILER fitted (hence original chain lasted nearly 22500 miles!)
Plenty of tread on both tyres means that there should be be no major expenses for many miles to come.Always garaged by me and no winter usage. It still looks very nice as you can see in the photos. Bike runs just like new and I've had zero problems with it other than usual service replacements, ie oil and filters brake pads etc. (New chain and sprockets and new Varta battery replaced less than 250 miles ago).
Plenty of tread on both tyres means that there should be be no major expenses for many miles to come. Bodywork still gleams with only some small scuffs down near the tail light assembly where my luggage ties rubbed on a european trip. I replaced the small curved black tail cover as this got marked the worst. - oh yes and the good news is the bike averages 56mpg touring!
Just to spoil the party somewhat I dropped it at zero mph after braking with some steering lock on when a youngster stepped in my path just as I was pulling away. Doh !!!. Fortunately the only damage was a cracked screen ( as seen in pic, and repaired with a small pop riveted bracket) and a really small dent in the tank (paint surface not broken, see pics) where the handlebars were able to contact it on full lock due to the "twanging effect" when I couldn't hold it and it hit the tarmac).
Small enough not to be noticed without a detailed glance.
Other points:
I Upgraded the fork oil to thicker 15 weight fairly early on and at the same time replaced what looked like a very slightly weepy fork seal. The thicker oil made a very noticeable improvement to the too soft front end which dived far too much under braking. Having said that the newer pointy model seems reasonable as standard.
Whilst it's the non faired model it comes with a givi screen which does a very good job of keeping the wind blast off at motorway speeds and still looks pretty good with it on. Removal or refitting takes 2 mins max.
Have the full v5 document and also a hard copy of Suzuki's factory Workshop manual to include in the sale. It's currently on SORN and I have yet to MOT it after the last one expired. This can be carried out before collection if desired, ie full 12 months MOT available.
Reason for sale: well as I liked it so much I hung on to it even when I bought another bike whose looks I fell in love with. I thought I ought to just in case I didn't get on with the new one's racier riding position. I didn't initially (!!) but fitting some "risers" for the clip-ons means my old bones ( yes you guessed I'm firmly into "old git" territory age wise!) can still take long touring days. I found the naked SV soooooo comfy I once managed 800 miles in a day without any aches and pains. 2/3rds of the miles done on the bike come from 3 euro touring trips so wear and tear on the engine and transmission has been kept to minimum.
