Not sure if we'll be camping...
But on another note, I've called Rockingham and they can indeed store bikes at no charge in the event something may happen to one of the bikes. We're happy for anyone to use the van to dump stuff in, so may be worth considering instead of hiring a van for the whole weekend/monday.

For sure. If the worst does happen, our van has 3 seats, that person could hitch a lift back with us.... get Rockingham to store there bike.... and then only have to hire a van if one is need

that does sound like it might be the most sensible option, as if we camp, we will most likely need the van for 2 or 3 days realistically. That is really going to bump up the cost. Thanks for the offer guys :thumleft:
...Now lets just hope no one needs it!
All makes sense to me. Oh and yes, also thinking of camping. Maybe a poll would have been a good idea.

ooooh and as we will be going on Sunday, we could organise a ride out on the way I guess rather than taking the motorway / A14 as thats a bit boaring. I vote for a BBQ at the camp site too!

Ape, is your good lady driving up in the car with the little Apes and camping too? Asked t'other half but don't think she can get away from work..

I have a spare two man tent kicking around somewhere. I'll bring that too.

I got a response after a few days, not the best at getting back to you. I asked if we could all get pitches together, they said no problem.
I phoned. They picked up on the 2nd ring and confirmed there and then. You lot are just crap.

Just a quick question - if loads of us are taking 2+ man tents why do we not share? I'm not being g*y or anything but what is the point in taking more kit than needed and wasting cash?
If it isnt the done thing then I might book my own pitch and take my own tent - it just seems like a waste and all.

2-man tents are generally quite small... for the sake of 6 quid i'd rather have my own space!
BTW-
They say no BBQ's on the grass, do you think this means actually resting on the grass or any BBQ that stands on the grass????????

Having done a festival by bike, with a 2-man tent, I can confirm that not only are they quite small, but bike gear takes up a fair bit of room inside too. I nabbed myself a Vango Alpha 300 for this year and it's absolutely frickin cavernous - you can accommodate 6 people inside for a late night of heavy drinking.

Cool, but maybe considering the next day's activity not necessarily the best thing this time round.

At least we know how far the pub is from the tents.

No confirmation yet, I will ring tomorrow. I am fine sharing a tent but then again I think all the gear etc I will probably need a two man tent to myself. I also need to try out my new tent in preparation for AR08 and my Europe trip. Any tents etc can be left in the pit lane of course, I am not racing on the track with full touring set-up :-P

Why ever not. The tent on the back will help to add down force or er....wheelie power or something
and yes, a 2 man tent WILL be far too small. I found this out at the weekend. poor girl I was sharing with looked a bit bemused when I told her my bike gear took presidence over her bag of junk :smt077

I am all booked in so no need to share with the Hog. My sleeping bag also arrived today so all is looking up - provided it doesnt rain.
I did mention it in the other thread - but it is probably more appropriate here....
Shall I buy a disposable BBQ? They do allow them so long as we use the bricks that they provide as a base.
Almost sorry I'm not joining you lot now....

Nope - bit of an early start this time around - will be going up day before but going to stop in to see my gran enroute (near huntingdon) - don't fancy wrapping up a wet tent in the early hours ... might hunt you lot down for a drink later - then again might not...

Saeed, what sort of time are you thinking of getting there. I am still wondering wether to camp or just go in the morning as I am at work on Sunday till 18:00 (supposedly)....

Jon where are you setting off from at 16:00 ish ??
KnightRider
13-06-08, 10:23 AM
The earliest that I can leave Surrey (my mum's house) is at 3pm. This would mean that I would be in the Maidenhead area at 4ish. This time is in no way set so if it would suit you better to leave at 5 then that would also be fine.
Ideally I dont want to get up there too late as setting up camp in the dark (and possibly the wet) wont be much fun!

Well, I am at work at the moment and the weather is lovely. Looks like camping out might be an idea.
