Well after having a bad day at college couldnt wait for the day to end so i could get straight home for a nice cold beer. Went to turn my ignition on heard a scream sort of noise coming from my battery area had to take the front seat off ( why make it so difficult SUZUKI!!!!) didnt know what the problem was so had to call out someone luckily i payed extra on my insurance for free road side assistance and breakdown... Nice chap came from pompey.... i was in bournemouth at the time came along way he said the REC/REG gone or the generators packed in..... He brought me home after 3 hours of going knowhere just being teased seeing all the bikers going to poole quay i was planning on going but for this lol!!

Anyway went to the garage where i got it from and hes agreed with what the roadside mech said and he's picking it up tommorow morning and taking a look ( luckily if it is the REG/REC most likely or the generator which he saids highly unlikely its covered by the warranty as i havent had the bike 12 months).

So now for my question is it a common problem on the Curveys for the Regulator and rectifier to pack up??

See my thread from a week ago Battery/Starting problems - I've got an intermittant fault that's doing the same thing, on a Curvy...

Looking like a loose connection somewhere on mine (2000 plate), but will let you know as soon as I've diagnosed it properly. It's been behaving itself the past week or so though......

Yep, the OEM reg/rec is a poor design and gets hot, then that fries it and the charging curcuit goes nuts and you get a flat battery or fuses blown or all sorts.

I got a suzuki official replacment, it is a differant design to the OEM one that packed up on me so I hope its more reliable

Many people use other reg/recs from other bikes, i think the CBR600 ones are popular?

Mine doesnt start though the mech jumpstarted it and was fine switched the kill switch and tried starting it again and was just screaming from the battery backwards which i can only assume is the REG/REC any how it needs a new battery as this one is now fried.

The mechanic put the multi meter on it and at 3,000 revs it was reading between 16 - 17 on it.
