Going to look at a wee CG125 tomorrow for the good lady to learn on, it's advertised as 'decent condition' - it's MOT is due next month too.
Is there anything in particular we should be looking out for? I know these bikes are as close to bomb-proof as can be (hence the reason for picking one of them) but if there are any common faults we might need to know about it'd be great to have an idea before we go!
Cheers 'Org!

tyres, fork seals, chain and sprockets, electrics (lights, indys ect) exhaust rot, everything else will go forever.

Just check all the little things as usual, chains/sprockets/brakes etc and make sure the electrics work. The CG doesn't have an oil filter so have a look at the oil, it's not so good if it looks like toffee. Tyres aren't bucket cheap either so check they're ok if the MOT is next month.

Just tap all the spokes to check they're all tight and not corroded through, I think that's MOT-able.
To be fair though whatever needs replacing it's easy and can probably be done with a hammer. Just buy the cheapest one you can find ;-)
Tyre's were about 40 quid a set when I had mine.

Cheers guys! It's fairly reasonably priced so all being well my SV will have a little brother by this time tomorrow!

165 quid seems to be the going rate. Good luck!

I have just bought my girlfriend a cg125 to help her practice by herself before going through the das (then she will get the sv and I will be ktm SM990tastic).
I bought a brand new one on a 08 for 1800, so down 270 from OTR price. I have seen a few 2006 for 1600 to 1650, so if we keep it a few years then its only cost a few hundred a year in depreciation.
But as everyone else has pointed out they are bomb proof, but watch out for ex cbt types....they have had a very hard life.

Well, we got it!!
It's a bit rough around the edges, but runs perfectly - was a bit of an experience riding it back from Ayr to Dumfries though (about 60-70 miles!) but it's all good!
