View Full Version : The clock is ticking
Roll on this time next week. I'm almost rid of it!
No, the dodgy rash is here to stay.
The SV, otoh, is being traded in if it hasn't found a buyer in the next 7 days.

S'ok I suppose...
;-)
Looks pretty good:thumbsup:
Horrible exhaust though. I'd be inclined to put a stock can back on if I can find one at the right price (not sure my insurers like modifications). Failing that, I'll grab a Yoshi or Akrapovic can off ebay.
Stubby schmubby.
What exhaust is it? It looks a bit something or nothing on it to be honest.

I wish I had more self control as I would love something like that for the occasional blast. Better for my license that I keep with the SV though.
Will you still want to ride the RGV once you get the new toy??

Yeah. The RGV's a completely different beast, ticks a wholly different set of boxes. I'm looking forward to having two bikes I want to ride rather than just one.

So you did it! Looks like a nice bike might have to have a sit on it at the next meet!
Woke-up feeling all peculiar as I was dreaming about riding the old 600rr. Am getting desperate.....RAR

Every time I look at the exhaust I feel the hatred boil up. I'm a fraction of an inch from clicking buy-it-now on a stock can on ebay but I reckon that can probably wait a week or so.
Now, the kicker is that a few hours after placing a deposit on the GSXR as a "probably" trade-in, someone came and put a deposit on the SV, leaving me cash rich in a few days. I now have two choices:
1. Haggle on the GSXR, despite having paid a deposit (as I'm no longer dependent on an admittedly fairly generous trade-in price)
2. Lose my deposit on the GSXR, buy another one privately, and still be quids in
Monday should be interesting.

I would haggle, maybe you can get them to change the exhaust for a better one, always worth a try.

Buy the bike with the stubby, sell the stubby on ebay 80-100 quid, buy a Yoshi off ebay.. Job done :-)

The private bike has slightly lower mileage, a full size scorpion end-can and standard wheels. The dealer bike has that horrible stubby exhaust, strangely repainted wheels, newer tyres and a warranty.
Here's the sums (before any haggling or replacement parts):
Cost to upgrade to dealer bike: ?2045
Cost to upgrade to private bike: ?1845 including lost deposit.
Decisions, decisions!

Sounds like Private is the better bike and better price??
Sounds like Private is the better bike and better price??
Quite possibly. I'll find out later, I'm off to look at it this evening. If I can get him to drop the price by a couple of hundred, and it's a good one, I'll bite his arm off.

Saw it, liked it, collecting it on Thursday.
Image is at the same URL as before, so the post up there ^^^^ somewhere will have changed, but this is the new one:

Meh.
Sweet.
The current owner's away on business for a couple of days so I can't collect it - the wait's absolutely agonising! One day down, three to go...

Looks like a cracking bike, very clean too..
Oh very nice, lovely bike matey.
Well.
It ain't exactly slow.
Doesn't float my boat at all. But as long as your happy...
Keep it rubber side up eh!
Or is that rubber side down
Shiny side up, rubber side down. That'll do.
I've never experienced anything hit 150 that quickly (and still have 1/4 of the rev range to go)
Not even jet aircraft during takeoff.

Hey Ogden, I have switched to Carole Nash now, I have third party cover on anyone else's bike, gissa go :-P
Sure you can have a go on my bike. The new owner's coming to pick it up tonight but if you can make it to mine before 7 the SV'll be ready and waiting.

i've worked out there are 86 inidividual spot lights in the ceiling. 4 chandelliers each with 16 individual lights. then there are the wall lights....
on the flipside of boredom, I've just bought an oval stubby can from beolwulf so im now looking for info on how to fit it as I'm totally clueless :)_
Best thing you can do with a stubby can is bin it.

isn't really a "stubby" like the 6 inchers iv seen around, it's just about 2 thirds of the size of the massive beer barrel that suzuki stick on there...

Dead easy mate, loads of threads on here.. I used a junior hacksaw , only took a few mins to saw through. Make sure you use something to protect the swingarm, block of wood worked for me..

He is Ogden, he hates SVs, stubby cans, slow riders and a whole host of other things. But somehow he is rather endearing and we all love him really :D
I'm rather bewildered by a can that requires the use of a saw to fit it.
Can't you just buy one that fits and bolts directly on to the existing link pipe? Or is that too logical?

the product name/title is "Stubby length" - the idea of sawing any mechanical component freaks me out (unless it's like a custom bike/trike/kit car etc)... I can see the appeal of stubbying the standard can since it could probably hold about 18 pints.
in this case i'll have to saw the existing link pipe and bolt the new can in place with a connection sleeve, asside from that it'll be purrfect :D (if i dont screw it up) :)

That's being a bit pedantic. I could have gone and bought a new ready made stubby can. Or I could have bought half a dozen rivets and done it myself.
Saved myself a hundred quid or so.
