I am now an Ex-Fireblade owner. I threw it down the road on the North Wales 3.5 rideout
It was dirty anyway!!
So there I was on this big right uphill bend, cranked over a fair way when the wheels just dissapeared from under me, no reason just lost grip possibly something on the road?? I managed to correct and get it upright but then I was no longer pointing around the corner.
I was pointing straight at the armco :silent:
"Hmmmm" I thinks to myself. I could have dipped it back in to try and get around the bend but then in my path would have been a nicy shiny patch of new tarmac (which I have since been told was very grippy) and then a big patch of gravel so, cranked over through gravel to me equalled 'going down'.
I went round the left of the gravel and tried to pull it in after that but ended up clipping the edge of a grass verge which then redirected my bike to travel along the verge (from the left: armco, then 1ft of grass verge and then the road)
The front wheel dipped in to the grass and threw the bike to the floor so I jumped off just before it hit, landed on my forearms..

The world slowed down but I was still thinking in realtime - STRANGE THAT - The first thing I thought as I was sliding was:
"Ooooh, this isn't that bad... OH isht, it the bike following me?"
So I flipped myself over, still sliding, just in time to see my bike hit the curb on the other side of the road:
"My bike :( " I thought.
As I'm sliding backwards on my shoulder with my legs akimbo, I then noticed the menacing blue headight of the GSX1400 a couple of feet away with Rick (Badgers mate) practically doing a stoppy to try not run over my man bits......
He got around me PHEW [-o<[-o<[-o<
So just as I'm slowing down my thoughts come around to "Get up off the floor and out of the way and move the bike before anyone else gets hurt". I moved a bit which flipped me over and I land on my feet (I think it looked well cool and done with style but it probably didn't really and was pure luck) which is where I think I hurt my ankle. I put it down to a sloppy landing
All things being equal, a narrow and lucky escape considering I was sliding about a foot away from the armco, my textiles took the brunt and wore away nice and slowly (big thanks to AGVSport).
Thanks to everyone there, sorry for the holdup... PETE I OWE YOU money for the use of your phone, I meant to give it to you at the Ponderosa but forgot. I think it was a £10 but PM me and let me know.
Thanks for the giggles while waiting to sort out recovery although you could have waited until I was off the phone to take the pics as I wanted to be in them.
HUGEMONGOUS THANKS TO RICK (The aformentioned guy that managed to avoid mangaling my hopes for fatherhood).
Everyone else got off back to the ride, the recovery truck turned up and the bike was loaded, I then got on the back of the GSX1400 (Or starship enterprise as I will now call it) and we joined back up with the rideout and went back for a good old fashioned beer....
Pics to follow when I get them e-mailed over, didn't take pics myself as I landed onmy phone and broke the screen...
WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT A BLACKBIRD???
