View Full Version : Hello!
Hi,
I thought I would come on here and say hello. I'm Benn and I have been lurking around for a while, and posting a bit on the SELKent board, but now thought the time was right to say hello the big wide world of .org outside that board! :smt104
I am currently really excited as I am picking up my first SV on saturday, and can't wait! :laughat:
As I am about to get the bike I am looking around at insurance, does anyone have any recommendations of good companies that are worth going with? Also, I am after a good cover for the bike as it is going to have to live outside, any suggestion of good ones would be ace.
Thanks, hello and I look forward to speaking to and meeting some of you when I am out on the bike soon!
Benn :p

welcome!
I use Carrol Nash, cheapest I could find.
We need pictures once you pick it up!! :)
Why hello there.
Insurance companies are, essentially much of a muchness - just trawl around a few (H&R, Devitt, Bennetts, Carole Nash, MotorcycleDirect, Ebike, etc) and see which gives you the best quote. Personal recommendations don't really go far.
That said, I've been with H&R for the majority of the last 15 years (two policies in parallel atm). In that time I've made two claims, one for theft (Highway through H&R, I think, handled quickly and efficiently) and one for a big accident (Landmark/AIG through Motorcycle Direct, also handled fairly well). Really, you pays the least amount of money and you takes your choice.
Try not to fall off.

Ow doo :)
Myself & my son used A Quote insurance this year, they were the cheapest for both of us.
He is 18 with a 56 plate CBF600 Honda & paid about ?600 TPFT this year. I've paid ?163 Fully Comp, with my claim also being taken into consideration. They could be worth a go.
Welcome Benn! Hope you enjoy yourself in here, and on your new SV!
I have used A Quote this year also, but you can't beat doing the rounds. I came accross AQuote via the Tesco website, all good quotes there.
Prior to that I was with Express Insurance for 4 years. They always came good on the higher group bikes / or when I had no NCB.

Hiya and welcome... I use a broker called Nash Warren, use them for my car and house insurance as well as my bike and have found them to be the cheapest for me for the last 5/6 years. I pay £140 fully comp and the bike isn`t garaged. Also have no no claims bonus due to having had a break from biking for several years.
Hi Benn:D
Footman James are very good, as you also get free UK and European breakdown and recovery with your policy.

Try that. Great for finding some of the cheapest quotes about.
Welcome to the forums. :D
hiya benn, there is life outside selkent - its just not as strange lol
Thanks for the welcome and insurance reccommendations, I'll start my trawling. The bike does have an aftermarket exhaust fitted to it, so that seems to be pushing the price up quite a lot, but I would still rather have the lovely CCC sound and pay the extra!
The bike is a naked blue K3 pointy, in fact I have found out that it was previously owned by chutz on this forum, so you might know it already.

halllooooo
i use carol nash; not the cheapest, but then if you consider what they throw in with the insurance, its not too bad
dont know the bike but know chutz. glad it was able to stay in the family lol
hi
I have used biketeam the last few years for my SV (around 120gbp FC) but try tesco.com. They do a price comparisson for several companies and display for 3rd P, 3rd P FT and FC at the same time. Very good for lazy buggers like me

reeto benn, use carole nash myself. i like to do everything on-line and they let me change my policy, cater for a courtesy bike etc. not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive. i'd forget the cover unless it really is a top quality one, i find the wind gets hold and they scratch your paint. your better off investing in a top chain/padlock and ground anchor.
