Well I've had a fun couple of days.
In an attempt to lose a bit of weight playing football on Sunday evening I've gained extra courtesy of wires and plaster around my elbow. For some reason it didn't like my 15st landing on it at speed and decided to snap in two.
Still on the bright side I get some time off work

Yeah I know, but don't worry i'll be back on the bike as soon as possible after the plaster comes off.
I will definately make it to the Shire hopefully in about 8 weeks.
The whole leg-breaking bit of the TVSF initiation only counts if you do it on a bike, you know.
I'm quite impressed by my TT-racing mate. He stacked his souped up 10R at the weekend and left himself with two broken legs, a broken foot and a broken jaw. Oops.

Seeing as you're a riding god, it would be a smoother journey than in my car. So surely Adrian can hold on to ya one handed.. :geek:
Ouch, GWS and yes I agree Warthog, Football is far to dangerous, so much so it causes accidents to and from going to play it!

There would just be the slight issue of not being able to get my arm into my jacket. My right elbow is so swollen it won't even be put into a proper plaster until 2nd June it's in part plaster and the rest normal bandage at the moment but is still about 3 times it's normal size.
The worst thing is the boredom I think I'll go to work next week just because I can't cope with staying at home watching the lovely daytime tv.
Seeing as you're a riding god,
Someone has been spreading malicious and false rumours again.

You may find your company will tell you to go back home. Unless of course your not signed off sick. I tried to go back whilst still on the sick and they wouldn't let me. All to do with liability in the event you injure yourself further whilst on work premises.

I haven't been signed off, in fact most of the service I received was pretty poor didn't get any real feed back about the op. It was just a quick you can go home after your 3rd lot of antibiotics and we'll see you on the 2nd June to check it and put into plaster. Then had to wait nearly 2 hours for some paracetamol and codeine phosphate.

Sorry to hear you're out of action fella, but at least THIS thread doesnt involve a crash. at least you still have a nice shiney bike to look at - all the poor bu**ers who keep crashing have a big ebay bill to pay too :p
I'd take a trip down to the GP and get yourself signed off sick. That is of course unless your work only involves you using your legs.

I'm going to see how I feel on Friday. My job is 90% comp work so can do it left handed just a bit slower than normal. I can't make the 25 mile commute to Oxford but have spoken about working in the office 10 mins walk away. My work are being very good about it all and saying to make sure I'm alright to come back and if I go back and then don't feel up to working the full day then to just go home.

Turns out you could be right. I need to see someone on Tuesday to confirm if they'll let me go back to work yet.
If I could play the xbox it wouldn't be such an issue but the tv is just sooo poor during the day.
Normally you have to get a doctors note signing you fit again. My doctor wouldn't do that. Primarily as I told him I ride a bike to work and back.

Well I've had my follow up today and am now in plaster. The good news is that I should only be in plaster for 2 weeks then the physio will start. Here's the xrays showing the break and subsequent repair.

I'm really pleased with the news today. I'm looking to be back on the bike in 4 weeks. It was really painfull but was getting better until today when they pulled out the 20-30 staples from where they cut me up.
I know that i've got a lot of pain still to come too as i'm sure the first lot of physio will kill me having not moved the elbow for 4 weeks. I must remember to take some painkillers before I go to that!!
From experience I would suggest doing the opposite. Take pain killers at times other than physio.
Taking pain killers before going to physio can work against you. In the first instance you'll be giving them a false impression that it is better than it really is. Second, your likely to do more physio than is good for you and actually slow the healing down.
