OK guys, I appreciate this might be a bit boring but I'd really appreciate it :)

I've just had the nose off my SV to look at the damage since my off.

If you could run through the pics and basically tell me what I'll be needing and if you know of anyone selling them.

Basically if its not in the pics, it was smashed to smithereens and I've left it in the ditch.

Also, my suzuki key snapped and I lost the PCB that controls the alarm and immobiliser, how do I sort that to get another key? Dealer? I've got the separate fob so I can still start the engine (still sounds beautiful)

If you need more detailed pics to answer, just tell me where to point my phone!

Is it economical to repair? Or do I get another, break this, keep the remainder for spares. Engine has done under 7k.

And yes, it is a traffic cone in my yard.
Thanks,
T :shaking:

streetfighter time? or do you want to put it back to stock?

MiniMac
20-05-08, 07:31 PM
Ah yes, I meant to edit to say that I have the undamaged infill for below the lights.

Ideally, I'd like to go back to stock, but it may have to be in stages due to funds.

What is a subloom? The thing I am holding in my hand? What does the subloom control?

Think its probably a good idea to get a new front subframe, rather than bending that one back?

Yes you are holding the subloom , its what plugs into the front of the bike to supply the front lights .
Clearly you need a front fairng and front sub frame .
Can you see if your radiator is ok and also how do the forks look . You may also want to check for leaks by firing it up and achiving running temperature . This will put pressure on any weak spots in the system . These are the big things to get sorted first before you start making it look pretty again .
Chin fairing infill and clock infill should be on your list aswell as a new /replacement set of lights .
Mirriors , indicators , clocks and levers all look reusable but you have to get a new tank aswell .

the sub-loom branchs of the other conector behind the clocks and runs the front light and indicators.

depending on how bad the front sub frame is bent which in the pics dosnt look 2 bad i would defo just straightin it back out as ther pretty hard 2 get used and they cost a mint new.

Rad looks OK, no leaks or rips in hoses, fins are good.
Forks go up and down without any visible twisting.

Will get it up to temp tomorrow. How much is a front fairing / nosecone arrangement?

it would depend on where you go and weather you want an orignal siler one or not or just egt any colour then get it painted threw time.

best place for parts would be ebay and/or get a wanted post up on here for any bits you need.

I bought a K3 silver one about 3 years ago now from a Suzuki dealer and it was around the 150 pound mark, which actually pretty cheap!

Got some prices from Marriots dealer last night.

300 headlight assembly
197 for nose cone
40 for bits of plastic that cone bolts too.

As for the fairing I would get it off ebay and get it sprayed . It works out a lot cheaper .

Naked it, it'd be cheaper mate. Did you check forks are ok etc?

EDIT: Whats that parked next to it?
EDIT x2: just saw the post re forks, they just looked funny in one or two pics. The reason I ask about the bike next to it is, if its naked, steal the headlight mounting plates and whatever you can to fit the SV :twisted:

Its my flatmates old GS500.

Thinking of getting the forks checked in Warrington. I'm going to try and ride it there, once I've straightened the frame / bars out the way. I'm going to be taking it easy, so shouldn't be too risky.... should it?

Thinking of getting some streetfighter headlights and indys from busters, like these:

http://www.bustersclassic.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=HLGOG

Think I'll just have to grab a new tank from ebay and get it sprayed. Are the tanks the same across K2 - K8? Same for forks, are they the same? I'd imagine that the nose fairings and associated headlight mounts are different so I'd need a K3 specific one?

Well for probably the same price you could get Gixxer forks, but then your entering the modyfying the front wheel brakes etc area. Best idea is to get your forks checked first before you incorporate those costs. Can get some risers for bars and put some renthals on it. Should only be around ?50 for that, then again, are the clipons actually bent? They look twisted on the forks thats all.

Hehe, nah I'm going to try and get a replacement mounting area.

Just waiting on some pics of a petrol tank that I am possibly buying and a fairing nosecone.

Once this is all done, I might even get it sprayed black!

Well if you need some clipons, which I do doubt cos it looks like they have just been turned in by the impact, I will have some for sale to fit the SV when I've done my bar conversion. Mine are made to fit 41mm fork tops so should be fine.

might be able to help with a front sub frame, let me know if u need one. The expensive bits the forks look straight, lucky there.

Suzuki made the SV to be a budget bike so barring engine and frame most other things are the same on both bikes to keep production costs down .Some panels do have wider mountings due to said larger frame and engine . However , saying that , there still is no gaurentee the silver will be exactly the same shade as the rest of the bike . This really is no bad thing . My yellow tank is a resprayed blue one at heart and to the passer by it looks fine but when you get close you can see the difference in the shades . This is a common necassary evil I'm afriad . I am not sure how many different shades of silver suzuki have produced but I imagine that someone on thie site will be able to help you out there .
If you are going to ride it to get checked out just be damn sure to take it easy best to get there late in one piece tahn not at all .

PS you can leave the stickers on and pretend its a thou or just use a hairdryer and patience (spelling) and peel them off .

xbox650
25-05-08, 08:38 PM
I have just taken another look at the photos and see that the bike has no lower fairings . This will work in your favour as there is no other paint(except the tank) near to where the new one will be mounted and so any diffrence in shades will be less noticable .

Brilliant, really appreciate your help guys.

I'll have a bash at straightening front subframe with a scaffolding pole, if not, how much am I looking for a 2nd hand one of them?

Also, I've secured the front nose fairing (probably) but does anyone have the black plastic bits that go at the sides?

kwak zzr

Looking at this thread, it is similar to my list by the looks of things, however as I have actually snapped the front fork and bent the other, as well as possibly damaging the wheel internals, ill need a complete front end, tank, fairing, subframe and the rear headlight assembly. Amazingly the front headlight covers are untouched. Also need a new Rad

Bottom yoke is warped but topyoke looks ok, will be geting frame professionally looked at to check its still straight.
