View Full Version : busa owners.
I know this is an SV forum but I'm aware there are a few busa owners on here too! Hoping for a bit of tech advise.
Had the bike a couple of weeks, love it, goes great, comfy blah blah, but also noticed in some cases the rear end (of the bike!!) 'jiggles' a bit on the bends. Only ever had that feeling once before and that was on an old FZR600 which the previous owner had fitted an oversized rear boot. Fitted correct tyre - problem solved...
So I checked my busa - sure enough it has a 200 rear BT014 yet all the specs, handbook etc suggests it should be a 190.
Is this a usual mod for the busa, hence I need to look for another reason or accept it as normal handling, or someone just being daft with oversized boot?
suppose in an other 50 miles you will find out when its chewed through it and you need to change mate!!

Yer right . Should be 190. Not a bike you want to be fannying about with tyre sizes.:p
Bet you will enjoy ruining it though. Make it SQUEAL!!!:)

Brilliant.
Tyre wear measured in hours not miles?

You are correct it should be a 190 rear tyre on there and certain ones too. As you have the handbook it might be worth checking to see the suspension is set to standard!

Will do! Although otherwise she feels really good!
Thanks for all the replies appreciate the effort. :D
Last time I looked at that boot it was well on the way to rubber heaven anyway. Might be worth setting up a DD on rear tyres
Back when the world was black n white in my younger days (post sepia era I might add) I tried an oversize boot on my CBR600 FK (at an 'experts' suggestion ), turn in was too fast (think oversteer) but in reality it ended up understeer to counter the problem when riding. I changed the boot after 200 miles to the correct one. Tyre was nearly new but well scrubbed in. The bike was transformed. Just a thought, have you checked how much air is in it?

stick with the recommended size (190). however, find a tyre that suits you, i have always used bridgestone bt56,s which are ok in the dry but spin up like buggery in the wet/damp. i,m changing to michelin pilot road 2,s as i've been using them on my 1050 tiger and they are superb in both wet and dry and they seem to last for ages. a mate has them on his gsxr 1000 he thinks they are pretty good as well.

My thoughts too - when the time comes I'll switch back to 190. I've converted from BT's to Metz M1's on last two bikes and found them to be really good all round with a bit of added life!
Main thing is to get that spec right though!
Thanks for the comments.
