Just had a little off at about 40mph leaning into a corner too far n a new back tyre. BEWARE!!!!!! I am very lucky and when the rear overtook the front and spat me over the top i ended up about some distance from the end of the skidmark and got up to pick the bike up and carry on riding minus one wingmirror and 2 scuffs.

My leathers (2piece frank thomas suit) and sidi vertigos have done their job SUPERBLEY and are quite scuffed but i dont doubt that without them i would be a lot worse than sat in my spare room typing this with an icepack on my right foot. WEAR YOUR LEATHERS WITH PRIDE DESPITE THE HEAT AND NO MATTER HOW SHORT THE JOURNEY!!!!!!

On a final not the pics below prove how effective the R&G crash bungs are and after a 40mph lowside so go and buy some NOW! I am going to e-mail R&G to thank them also as they have saved me a fourtune!

Glad to hear you and the bike have come out of this off pretty OK. Still must have been a major shake up for you. So big hugs !!!

I am going to invest in some R&G's, they have done a cracking job saving your bike.

Bet you will be a little bit sore tomorrow tho, make sure you get checked out if anything else start to ache hun.

Take care xx

I`ll take heed and take it easy for a while

Thanks for the comments guys! Im just glad i was wearing everything. Every but of armour in that jacket and one knee touched down at some point looking at the grazing on the leather so i have deffinately learnt from it...and also not to put all your faith in a new rear tyre only 100miles bedded in pmsl...live and learn!

Just a thought...................have you actually checked the tyre pressures? We've heard of some horrendous pressures in tyres fitted by various dealers.

From memory I believe it is recommended that tyre pressures are rechecked after the 100 miles.

I'm glad to see that you are alright and there is no major damage.

Yeah i think i owe it all to the R&G's to be honest! Should not be too costly

Ooooo gutted but fairplay to the R&G even if it bent massively.

On another note I thought tyres pretty much lost there slippyness after one heat cycle? would have thought they would have reached sufficient temps after 100m?

Oi, what are you doing chucking my bike down the road? I said look after it!

Seriously though, glad to hear you're OK and to see that the R&G's worked!

They would have lost their 'slippyness' in the area that has been used, but if that was the first time that tyre had been leaned over to a fresh part, that part would have still been slippy. You need to get they tyre warm and gradually pound all parts of it in to the ground a bit before it's properly run-in. :riding:

Glad the R&G's worked well. Mental note. Get some.

Get the lottery numbers on, thats one lucky crash. Although your R&Gs are ruined, funnily enough mine are totally unscathed from my accident. Theyre bloody tough bungs

I'm sure I read on here and elsewhere, writen by some trackday goers that that wasnt the case, hence why you can put new tyres on, put them through a heat cycle in tyre warmers and then be completely fine on them.

Maybe I read wrong.

But are you baking them in warmers before going to work? Track tyre temperatures are likely to be much higher.

p.s sorry to hear about the off. Nice cheap fix though.

Defo very lucky, I did lowslide not long ago and my R&G didn't help near as much as yours. Still glad you're ok

Yes but that just means the tyre has been on for 100 miles and not the entire tyre is bedding in with 100 miles use, this catches a lot of people out as say riding for 100 miles bolt up right does not bed in the edge of the tyre! So people be careful out there!

Just a thought...................have you actually checked the tyre pressures? We've heard of some horrendous pressures in tyres fitted by various dealers.
I always take a mini tyre pressure gauge with me and check before setting off after having tyres fitted, you should always give your bike a quick once over every time you pick it up from having some sort of work done too.

Glad to hear you are ok and the bike's relatively damage free.
