View Full Version : Tesco Insurance Online Quote - is this normal?
so i'm looking for my second years worth of insurance, bennetts told me over 700 quid which is more expensive than what i'm on with them atm despite the extra year
so thought tesco, gotta be good as theyre taking over the world
Did a quote with Direct Choice TPFT @ £478 with 650XS, wrote down quote, went back to the start page and my details were already there, so thought lets just click next and see what happens. So up pops another quote, through same company for now 435 quid, which is obviously slighty good
wonder if it will do it again if i try...
is that not abit wierd?

Bennetts are completely off their f###ing rocker.
My renewal was 200 quid more than the previous year...
Carole nash beat their price by 300 quid.

yep, carole nash were £300 cheeper than anyone else with 1years NCB, give them a call if you havent yet.
Try express insurance. They seem very competitive for most people

You do get mega differences, CIA insurance (advertising in bike a lot recently) were £300 more than bennetts and they even rang me while I was still doing the online quote to hassle me!
Post Office car insurance was crap too, far more than Direct Line.
tescos wiped the floor with all the others, carole nash was 200 quid more, express 500quid more
its stupid how much they vary
 have you got like 9 points or something or are you fairly young? those prices seem really stupid
Give Ebike a go, ive used em a couple of times and they are very comepetitive I think

i just went on the gocompare as mine is up next month and i got £237.99 TPFT from Dial Direct but I've never herd of them, will see what they want for renewal from my current one
yeah i fall into the really young category i'm afraid (well only afraid on matters such as insurance, first got the bike before i was 18
i was just surprised by running the same quote i saved 40 quid!
also express's quote must have been stupid, cos they called me just and tried to get me a better one which i wasnt fussed at as they were paying for the call (i hope!)
and they couldnt quite beat tesco, so apparantly gonna try again today and tomorrow and message me the results... cant complain with that service really as they new the just under a grand quote originally was ridiculous squared
Express try hard to beat your other qoutes and to be fair normally do.
Your best bet is to ignore onlin qoute and just ring your favourites and play them off against each other, its normally much cheaper to ring.

pays to shop around with bike insurance, the company dont bother me its just the price i'm intrested in.
I found that Dial Direct were cheap, but excess was high. Plus not the most helpful people to speak to, and that's before a claim!
I tried Swintons, which online were atrocious, but by phone went off to speak to manager and came back with ?410 (Licence since December, no no claims) fully comp, 600 excess. That's for a 2006 SV650Sport (and I like to consider myself young!). The good thing about them is, worst happens, you have a real person to yell at! No hanging up or losing you in transfer!

Make a note of the extras; carol nash might be a bit more, but (at least with my insurance) theres third party on other bikes, breakdown + recovery (UK and europe), up to ?1000 of add ons before decleration, pillion cover. All for ?310 tpft
And maybe something else, i forget

Those still seem relatively high quotes for TPFT. I am currently 19 and pay just over 370, but my bike is still factory standard really. How old are you now if you dont mind me asking???
Dial Direct were a comparison site that gave me the cheapest quote. I think it was with Ha dn R Insurance.
Also try adjusting the mileage up and down. It was cheaper for me to do something like 5000 than 2000 in one of my cars.
Trace :)
Im with direct choice and have been for 4 years. Never beaten thier quote ever!! No one has even come close. (Under £100) Thier claims service is good.
However, i did have my car with them and they couldnt match this years quote with Churchill (Who apprently theya re affiliated with)
patrick i'm 18 now still, 19 in august
its true carole nash do offer some good stuff but at 150 quid more its stuff that maybe i'll run the risk of not having
gonna keep searching around
gonna keep searching around
Motorcycle Direct were good for me and dial direct gave me the cheapest option that i'm on atm. Have you tried them yet???
think so, give it another go thought
ebike just gave me 2.5 grand f&t, swear there wasnt this much trouble on my first one!
ones asking me what car license i hold, but i dont, and theres no option for that
does the bike full license class as a provisional for car?
does the bike full license class as a provisional for car?
Yes, i think so. If you are having ttrouble on the internet. Try phoning them directly.
If its an 0870 number and you dont fancy paying stupid money a minute use this site www.saynoto0870.com . You can type in the 0870 n0. and it should give a free alternative.
