I've been told that to hold bikes still, cable ties are being used to hold the front brake on. This then means that people can't get them off when they arrive in port, causing loads of delays. Take something to cut the tie with, and you will have lots of people thanking you!

Cant you just leave the bike in gear...? thats what I do when e.g. parking on a hill...

Yeah seems very strange, in gear holds the bike still but even then if on a ferry I would still want straps preventing the bike from falling.

Best way.....hire a van and get 4 people in it + 4 bikes.....half the cost.

Riding bikes on/of the ferry - the first time I did it I was soooooo scared of dropping the bike - I had big knobblies on, the bike was fully loaded and unsurprisingly the metal floor of the ferry was completely wet.

I was so chuffed that I didn't have an off!!!

You have to leave it in gear and the bikes are all tied to railings by the crew on the boats. This appears to be an additional thing this year, it's obviously easier for the crew to check than being in gear.

Dont drink and ride obviously.

STICK to the speed limits, they hate speeders since there are places you can do it in relative safety.

Watch for faster people on the no limit roads. Last thing you want is to be rammed up the ****. :(

Take water proofs. Was fairly lucky last year the weather was brilliant! All the more reason to take some as the chances of nice weather two years in a row seems unlikely.
