Today I had to do one of the hardest things ever.I simply stood at the station as my 17 yr old left to go up north to catch his plane to New Zealand to live with his mum.Forever.Now I am just sitting here crying.
In case he is reading this "Good Luck mate,Love You"

AWWW Gid....... my heart goes out to you, must be awful for you and i`m so sorry. Wish I could think of something to say to make you feel better but I can`t. It won`t help you much right now but maybe try to console yourself with the fact that he might have a better future in New Zealand, I know you`re here but what else does England have to offer him? Out there he will probably have more potential. He`ll be hurting as much as you are.... big hug to you and the very best of luck to your son

Sorry to hear about this mate. Chin up, have a few drinks, go for a blast on your bike!!:-D
Then make plans for your kid to settle in and buy a bike for you to use when you go to visit!!!;) Take advantage of the decent weather in NZ.

Letting go of your parents is just as hard. I have to go through the same thing every year or two when i say goodbye to my dad. He lives in South America and knowing that i have to say goodbye at the end makes it hard as i love my dad, as i'm sure your son loves you. You should take comfort that it was probably just as hard for him to say goodbye to you. :grouphug:
I also have younger cousins in NZ and they didn't want to go, but now they'e settled and made friends they are having the time of thier lives. :)

Chin up fella ;)
I understand slightly how you must feel. My daughter (15) leaves Scotland for good tomorrow to live in Paignton with my friend until I can sell flat and find a new house in Hants to be our new family home. Then when I leave I will be upset about leaving my mum and dad and my dad is not at all well and I worry about my mum. family eh - who would have them

Good luck to him - NZ is a fantastic place and I expect that he'll be really happy there. I'd love to live there, but I couldn't persuade Mrs Wyrdness to move away from her family.
With t'internet, you'll be able to keep in touch with him really easily, something that wouldn't have been possible when I was 17. You could both get webcams so that you can still see each other regularly.
Feel for you mate, I really do.
In January I saw my then girlfriend off at Gatwick as she set of for Oz on a four year contract. She was the only girl I'd considered asking to marry me, since I divorced in 1995. I had to stop just off the M25 in floods of tears on the way home.
