Hi everyone,

I've just bought myself an SV400, had loads of fun on it so far, but need to sort out a couple of things before I can really put it through its paces such as new C&S kit and new tyres.

I've been looking on here for suggestions for which tyres, your thoughts would be appreciated as although I've been riding for a number of years, the sv is a new style of bike to me, I've always ridden commuters.

I live in Crewe and will be paying a former workmate a visit at F&B tyres to get them changed.

Picked the bike up yesterday morning and took it for a spin to see friends 70miles away, one of them took a pic for me, so here it is

I've done a search on tyres, found recommendations of where to buy & where to get them fitted, but am after which ones to buy, was thinking anything that goes well on the 650 will probably suit well.

It looks like there are a fair number of members near me, will keep a look out for you, I have been riding around the area on a turquoise XJ600 diversion with a topbox for the past 5 years.

Some wire wool and autosol required I think ;-)

Welcome to the .org mate. I run Metzler Z6 Roadtecs on my curvey and I've been very happy with them - ride in all weather and they really do inspire confidence.

Exhaust might take a bit more than wire wool and autosol, :smt044 I did however only buy the bike yesterday so can't be held responsible for its current state ;)

Tyres and chain are the top priority at the moment, the chain has a chronic tight spot, the tyres are mismatched (a Metzeler and an Avon) and the rear tyre is mis-shapen due to the bike having only done 9000 miles in its 9 year life, poor thing is in for a pleasant surprise, I'm no fair weather biker, I've been out riding almost every day for 15 of the last 17 years :riding:
