...due to microscopic graze to exhaust can - I would post a pic, but lens not good enuf  And I wonder why insurance quotes are so high

Details of my "high speed" accident.........http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=111092

Anyway, purpose of my post is that Dealer suggested a new aftermarket exhaust - I saw something nice on this forum from the Carbon Can Company, and bookmarked their Website http://www.carboncan.co.uk/ to have a look at "in due course" - but it still seems to be under construction :(

Seeing as "in due course" has arrived sooner rather than later......I am after some links to internet sites with nice pictures of exhausts - preferably from the current CCC range - at the moment Google is not my freind :(....although I do not have a budget to play with, the dealer basically said anything is cheaper than OE! (which I can well beleive!).

Also does the dealer have to electronically "rejet" the bike for a new exhaust - the reason for asking is that I may end up in a Baffle in / Baffle out (and maybe a Baffle back in ) situation..........

BTW I have gone off the idea of the Tailgunner, for reasons of Taste! (Must change me Sig!)

This is the nicest CCC can I have seen on this site so far, so much better than the common looking oval replacements. It belongs to 'krhall'....

At what £600 to play with for OEM? surely you can come up with better than CCC what about twin high level cans?

The Carbon Can Co website (http://www.carboncan.co.uk/) is still under construction but it has the email and phone number on it, ask them for a quote.

I found that CCC have an Ebay site - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CARBON-CAN-CO but don't seem to have what I was thinking of:-

http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll162/Jaytac_2008/P1000116-1-1.jpg

From this thread :-

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=109890

I could of course phone them up - but having no idea what model I want, (and vice verce!) I can see how passing on the ordering detail to the dealer will go.........and in any event as not my money no need to go for an E-Bay shop.

Now I am starting to realise why folk post up pics of their exhausts! Online seems so **** poor........

Go for this one - it's fantastic :D

Or a Beowulf can like I've got has a quite different shape too:

Comes in carbon or stainless (I have the stainless - seems pretty good quality, no problems so far - had it since last November? ish).

If you phone them they're very helpful. I did and they emailed me a few pics to help me decide. I went with the tri-oval one too.

I agree with Stu 580 notes would get you a nice Ixil system from www.wemto.com (http://www.wemto.com) would look something like this...

The ixils come in carbon as well

wemoto list the twin aluminium at £415 and the carbon cans are £580 (that's for a k4)

Just a +1 for CCC, although their website is always down, I am pleased with mine and they are nice to deal with.

With £600 to play with I would make sure you get a full system, esp. seeing as the original is a full system, instead of a £100 end can.
Isn't M4 the best? (as in performance improvement)

That depends, on low/mid tuned engines which is virtually what all the members have then all the top names are pretty much equal however when you start to do serious engine tuning then its the M4 that leads the way.

Sadly I don't know any details about this but its rather nice:

Not much tyre clearance there... wouldn't want to go through any kind of dip at speed.

I notice he's got a different swingarm that allows the pipework to go inside it - that's always been the problem for me with underseat cans on the SV, as the pipework goes round the outside.

Any idea what swingarm it is?

Judging by the weld behind the foot peg I would say it is a custom one (made with a mix of OEM components).

muffles
05-06-08, 11:27 AM
Ah ok...I had thought you got those welds on OEM ones too - like near the chain adjusters - but I've not exactly been looking :D

A shame, cos that would be a pretty good mod if there was a swingarm out there that would just fit on, and allow rerouting of the pipework.

What would be the point, sure it'd look cool to some but for the cost you could have a decent braced swingarm and a proper performance system

muffles
05-06-08, 11:56 AM
Just to clarify, I mean if it was an OEM swingarm from another bike, rather than a custom/aftermarket swingarm (OEM ones you'd expect to find cheap on Ebay, etc).

I'd do it, though, and purely for the looks - every time I see an SV with the pipework going round the outside of the swingarm it makes me cringe :(

Tinkering is good :)

Looks a bit like the SVthou swingarm to me, could that be the thou and not the 650?

These are the best pictures a quick Google gives me...indeed it does look similar (e.g. the welds mentioned earlier seem to be in the same place?). The first pic is especially interesting as it shows a little more of how much space is actually there (there's obviously one pipe going there already, but the modded SV has 2).

P.s. I initially thought the rear wheel didn't look wide enough to be a 180, but in all honesty no-one's gonna fit the 160 wheel with a swingarm that takes 180 as standard, are they? So that idea's out the window...and it could be either (650 or 1000) IMO. Need someone to spot something else on the bike to be sure - I am not an expert :D

No idea, just pulled it off Google as it showed the swingarm!

it is an sv1000 with a standard sv1000 swingarm.

Can you tell if he's changed the rear spring/shock? There's two pipes going through the swingarm there, and there only looks to be room for one...actually having said that, the rear downpipe is above the swingarm initially, presumably you could custom make one so the rear downpipe stays above the swingarm and the front downpipe comes up through the swingarm in its place (and then feed it off to an underseat single/twin exhaust setup (like the Ixil, maybe).

That probably works on the 650, too... interesting :D
