my house has just gone totaly wireless as far as pc connections are concerned, i removed all ethernet cables and am now using lappy wireless (no problems) wii wireless (no problems) and one of those netgear wireless reciver dongle thingys on my desktop pc, thing is i keep loosing my connection on the netgear dongle? its ok for ages then it just drops and keeps saying "aquiring network address"? any ideas to why i keep loosing this connection? i did think i was too far away from my router but my signal strength says very good.

I had a similar problem, found it was the signal strength when more than 1 item was using the net, upgraded to the 108 reciever, now its perfect

Had a similar problem with a Linksys. Kept dropping my 360 connection.
Turns out the cordless phone and the router were interfering with each other. Try changing the channel on the router.
HTH
I've seen signal strength report to be "good" even with massive interference (depends on how "good" to measuring/reporting software is, or if its using windows wifi). I once had to move a whole wall of metal filing cabinets to fix it (this was a few years back though when wireless wasn't as funky-G as it is now)
Have you tried changing the channel? (1-12?)
Failing that remove any microwave ovens you might have conveniently placed next to it?
If everything else works fine its either a poor quality dongle, or something in the environment of the PC.
ive had the same issue, but normaly a restart of my laptop sorts the issue, still dont know why, its been fine for ages and just started a few weeks ago

Did your neighbours get a new microwave/cordless phone? :D

Not that i know of, but my house is all proper thick wall brick and i can be quite close to my router and it still happens, but a simple restart of the computer sorts it. I though it was my DECT phones, but again ive had them for ages, so just goes back to prolly a glitch in my laptop or router.

We've got a triple pack of them and they seem fine with my wifi, but I guess depending on the model they're different frequencies anyway, and I've got a different router, and house.
This post was useless :D
There seems to be loads of issues with Netgear routers at the moment. Ours (cabled up to PCs) is dropping connections all over the show randomly. Taking it back to the shop tomorrow to swap for another make tomorrow. Will let you know if that solves it.
Trace :)
