So had a great ride home today and went to go up the little embankment to go round the back of where I live to the back garden, bloody well hit the side of it, slipped completely in the mud and slowwwwlllyyy went down to the left and laid the bike down at about 0 mph. Bloody ********. The bike is fine though, no damage. And then I switched the engine off to stop it flooding when it was on it's side, then tried to turn it back on- the alarm and the immobiliser work!

I was so chuffed it was in the mud and not on the concrete. I felt so so stupid haha glad you've all done it
I would say "ha ha" and insert a Simpsons jpeg had I not done the same in the garage last year.
Only difference was I "laid it down" on my ankle, which seemed to really help me not let it go truly flat down.
You don't realise your own strength until you have a choice of snapping a bone, or fighting it off :p
Coulda been worse. Imagine if loads of kids had seen you

I was pretty lucky the indi bulb didn't shatter, I think the crash bung stopped it - reason being, my LHS indi cover was nicked a week or so ago so it's just a bulb at the mo.

I'd be very careful where you take that bike if I were you for a while
Someone somewhere knows you've got it, and also knows where you park it in that case.
Its hardly "opportunist" thieving

That's a fair point, but I think it was probably chavs, I now keep it covered in my back garden, alarmed

I like to use the instant adrenaline/anger/embarrassment as a source of strength to immediately yank the sodding bike back up again!

"1, disagree strongly"
You wish/hope it were chavs. That way you convince yourself it won't happen again.
Without trying to unnerve you (alarm/disguise/cover is good), don't get lazy and leave the cover off, or leave it out front "just for half an hour cos you're going back out"
(I'm assuming it happened at home, though you dont need to say)
I've heard of this before, right after a minor incident.
Remember people who get burgled (£10,000 loss, say), then 7 days later get all of their cars stolen (£40,000) because the thieves spotted, but didn't touch, the car keys first time?
I've seen this.......that would really warrant a thread with this title.

Thanks very much, it certainly bears thinking about. I'll make sure it's all locked up - maybe start putting it in the shed overnight.

I've also had a 0 mph drop myself, which was quite embarassing. I kicked the side stand up (and forgot I did it). Started the bike, and relaxed my legs to put my gloves on....Whooaaa... "TIMBERRR" - the bike started to fall, and because it's my pride a joy, I thought I'd let my leg take the brunt of it (just save the bike goddamn it). I was shouting NO, NO, PLEASE, NO!! The bike fell slowly onto my left leg, as I was struggling to keep the bike upright (it was at a 45 degree angle by then). Luckily, no damage apart from a little scrape on the bottom of the footpeg - I fell on a concrete pavement. Leg was fine, but soar, and I looked funny sliding my way out from under the bike. I was outside a friends at the time and there were people across the road watching me.

I wonder what the record for laying bikes down on side is ?
