It has been suggested that my running rich problems are caused by the Factory Pro needles enlarging the hole in the emulsion tubes, so to eliminate this possibility I need to buy two more. However the microfiche pics of the carbs don't use this name. What does Mr Suzuki call them?

Never heard them called an Emulsion Tube before.
Never heard them called Holder Jet before.
They look like what I know as the Main Jet, though the ones I've got in front of me are slightly different as they are made by Renegade, but I think we're talking about the same thing?

Thanks guys, I think Matty is right. The main jets are what you screw in at the bottom of the tube I believe SH.
Next question, how do you get them out? They don't appear to screw in.

Pete, I don;'t think you can get them out. Ages ago used to have similar said about the ZX7R when used with a/some 'jetting' kits........think it was even dynojets but possibly wrong here. Perhap might be using titanium needles.
Anyhoos, if that's the case ie can't be replaced which I think might be the case, I've got a set of carbs here in very good condition but needs a couple of bits(one diaphram cover, throttle possition sensor and obviously the jets/needles) swapped over from yours.
I'll swap my carb with with yours(what ever is left) after you have tried and hopefully got a fix. If that does fix it, just take the(your carb) carb down to the AE(hoping to be there or will plead lol with someone living down south to take them back and I'll pick it off them) so either way, you only pay postage once.
Cheers

I too call it the Emulsion tube.
As for getting them out, I haven't had the SV carbs apart, but looking at your pic, they are not screw in ones like you can get. But after taking the main jet out, they can probably be 'tapped' out from the top. i.e. you take the diaphragm/slider out then access the top part of it from there.
To be honest, if they don't come out, or don't come out cleanly, you have to accept you have just written the carbs off ;)
I'd try someone else's 'known' carbs first to ensure it is the carbs at fault!
What's this about different needles??? Has the bike ever run 'properly'? i.e. has it just gone a bit poorly of late, but used to run fine?

Cheers Ben, very generous offer:thumbsup:, but I've all ready ordered two tubes on line last night. The tuning guy reckons you unscrew the main jet and then tap it out up, where the diaphram is, obviously having removed that first. That's not to say I won't take you up on the offer at a later date Ben, if you don't mind.
It has Factory Pro needles and apparently they can damage the tubes over a period of time. The bike was running sweet as a nut after Steve Jordan fitted them ( I supplied the kit) and to me it seemed to suddenly be bad. However I was riding the bike in the cold and wet a lot so may have put any bad running down to that as it got progessively worse.
Hi,
They must be pressed into the body of the carb looking at the picture of them (no thread).
I have a few thoughts about how I would remove them, but given the emulsion tubes look like there brass and the carb body is aluminium it could all go very wrong very quickly.
JHS in Bristol get mentioned a fair bit regarding tuning and racing, I'm sure they would have encountered this problem. A phone call to them may hold all the answers.
Good luck;)

Factory Pro used to have a rep for that with their titanium needles, sometimes referred to as "carb files" :D But I don't know if that's current. You could do worse than to ask Factory Pro, Marc's a helpful guy and seems to like SVs...
