OK, so I'm havin a spot o'bother with my paint code, i've just finished repairing my fairing lowers and they are now primed and ready for painting, got the paint code and took it to my mate who's a painter for a quote on finishing them, he tells me that the code i gave him has got two names depending on what paint he uses. the paint code is Y7L. In Acrylic paint it is called Candy saturn black, in waterbased paint it is called Buygen?.
Trouble is he uses waterbased paint so has all the necessary gubbins for paintin, if he uses Acrylic paint he will have to buy in extra's to paint in it as he doesn't use the thinners etc needed for Acrylic paint. What it comes down to is cost, £30 squids in waterbased paint and more than double for Acrylic paint:( not including the labour costs!!
What i need to know is are the two colours the same because they have the same paint code? or are they different coz the code is the same but the names are different?
Cheers

If they are the same colour then it shouldn't be a problem, could be just his supplier names it differently! However these are two different types of paint so I doubt the colours will be the same, the Candy Saturn Black is the OEM name for the colour.

Got the fairing lowers back from mister paintman today, the colour is the same, coz he quoted the code not the name as the name is a manufacturing name depending on the paint used.

So is the code with some paints too! Glad it worked out though.
