View Full Version : My sad confession

In my defence I only collect the expired discs from vehicles I've owned or had as company cars.

Cool! Whats the oldest one? looks like 09/76.
September 1976 is the earliest, it was in the holder on a Yamaha YG1F 80 (GCE24N) that I dragged up out of a garage pit in 1982.

No, but I was told about the publication of the week. Until then I had no idea that what I did had a name.

actually, hats off matey that is quite a collection - some people collect stamps, some people collect stolen memorobillia from nights out etc, tax discs are a novel idea :)
I don't really collect anything but I'm obessesed with carrot cake so I guess we're all a bit wierd in our own little ways :)

I don't want anyone else's, I only keep the ones I've replaced with new ones.
I also collect these... kinda, they go when the vehicle gets sold on. I keep the old ones and put them in the wallet with all the relevant vehicle's docs - nice to have proof that it's has been valid on the road kinda thing for the next owner.
That said I don't intend on selling my MG - so there's 11 years worth sitting right there.

I don't know which is more worrying; the fact that you do it or the fact that it's so common that there's actually a name for it! ;)

When I was a cub scout I collected (for my badge) lots of wrappers that came round oranges, they are still in the tin I used, somehow I just cant bring myself around to bin them.

When I used to smoke Marlboro I collected 100s of the foil pull outs as Marlboro used to do promotions for their stuff, lighters, clothing etc. Sadly I've still got them!!

I think a pic with them all in date order and then and pic with them in date of vehicle ownership.
Please make sure the tax disks are straight when you take the pics.

I suppose it is no different to saving all the number plates from vehicles you have owned and nailing them to your pigeon cote.
or is that just me?

I noticed that too, but couldn't come up with a funny comment ... I see you had the same problem ;)

:-k Soooooo....if you put a vehicle on SORN...you didn't technically replace it with a new one...so do you throw those away?
:-k :-k And is that recursive? You throw one away, thus the one before it is no longer 'replaced', so you throw that away, and the one before that is no longer 'replaced', ....etc?
OT: Shell - new bike?
I'll stick to collecting my belly button fluff you weirdo... ;-)

I keep all those that have expired, regardless of whether the bike is SORNed or not. I couldn't throw one away, that would be sacrilege.

No carpet tiles, just badly fitted carpet in a rented house, with an edge bound mat made from the same carpet on top.

You only had another 100 to go...exactly 154 to date. I don't want to know how much it has cost me in road tax over the years.
