Well, I failed my bike test on Friday :( and I was really looking forward to going on the AR08. The next date for my test is July 17th which is too late for the AR08.
I have just bought myself a Yamaha YZF R125 in blue so I can ride still, apparently is has a top speed of 80mph .

Before I take my name off the list, I thought I would ask if anyone would take offence if I came long anyway on my 125  or would my bike be too slow for the slowest riders on the AR08??

can you not try for a cancelation?

i cant see the problem on you coming on a 125.
not realy up to me though

as long as you can get there alright, you should definately still come!! i'm still on 33bhp limit as well. and as has been said in the 'ego minding' thread, it's not going to be a fast paced ride, more of a social get together ride so you'll be fine i would say. (feel free to come along and tell me to pi55 off and slap me if i'm wrong on this thoguh oh holy mods ;) )

Having been around a while and been to more than a few AR's, they are run as inclusive events , not exclusive.

Come along by all means, the marker system should mean no one gets left behind on the ride-out, so no worries there.

Cheers Mark.

yeah........... and if you dont feel like coming on the 125, you can go on the back of neio, that should slow him down a bit............... er, well maybe not;)

ere, I have been to a few bike rallies in the past, and its all about fun for bikers with or without bikes of super dooper quality to the most monstrous ratters. A few years back at the Wozwolf rally I saw a red 125 on L plates that had come from Scotland to Derby and won the award of smallest cc and longest distance!!!!!

Besides, on the rideout weekend your not forced to take part in the actual rideout if you feel put off by it...there will be plenty of experienced riders with bigger bikes that can't do the actual ride itself for various reasons, and your more than welcome to sit and socialise with them......and get a tan!!!! lol
But if you decide to brave the ride, then there will be plenty of nice folk to make you feel at ease, and accompany you at your pace:-)

You wont get left behind or lost or left out. Its a social ride open to all.

If you're worried come and see me on the day and I'll make sure you dont get lost or left behind. I'm doing Tail End Charlie for most of the day so you can bimble along with me at the back if you want to.

Thank you that would be great:D and will be following Neio down if he slows down . I was disappointed at the possibility of not going on the AR08 and have had nothing but positive responses which is great and thank you to everyone :D I am all smiles:-D:D:D:D:D

Hey as long as you are wearing your leathers and living up to your Nickname, then I dont think there will be ANY worries about what you arrive on :P

Hehe

Or to put it another way - the AR is for ALL members of the board, whether they come by car, train, plane or whatever, they should not hesitate to come along.

Ha ha, well I am afraid you will be disappointed I cannot find any leathers to fit only managed to get a set of textiles  but at least I will be able to rid albeit with L plates on ;)

I thought about going on my 125 but don't think I have enough road experience to be confident on the ride out so I shall be sticking to being a pillion!

You will probably have more experience than me :). I am picking up my little 125 today complete with L plates  and will be getting my experience between now and then running the bike in. I really wanted to go on the ride out and this is the only way I get to go along as I have no one to go pillion with. Like you I am a bit apprehensive as to whether or not I will have enough road experience but am willing to give it a go :D

I would like to give it a go but as this is my first ride out i think I will play it safe!
I need to book in for my test once I have a bit more practice, I want to get it done asap so I can jump on my sv!!!
I have heard that riding a 125 can me a little more difficult to riding a bike with a bit more power! Im hoping to steel someones big bike at AR while they sleep and find this out for myself!!!

I know what you mean this will be my first ride out too and I failed my test over a week ago, I did the CBT, DAS and test on a weeks course and my next test is not until July 17th . I will be taking my test on a 125. Yes it would be great to ride a bigger bike. I tried a 500 and it was a much better ride but found the space too small to do a u turn on compared to the 125 but failed anyway lol, hopefully better luck next time.

you are indeed right about the 125 being a pig compared to a larger capacity bike. They are awful in comparison. way back when I did my DAS the instrcutor was scared to death of sticking me on a bigger bike, as i was pants on a 125......he was proven wrong, and he was well chuffed,as within 5 mins of gettin off the 125 and onto the 500, my riding improved 6 million percent!

Thats reassuring. The 125 is very jerky and not smoothe at all. I thought it was my riding but apparantly 125's are like that!
Im looking forward to trying out a bigger bike. If it doesn't work out il just to my test on a 125 as phil has a restrictor kit for the sv anyway!
