Well, an interesting few months to say the least.
My car had a private reg plate, I wanted it off but the car was SORN for 2 years. To get my reg plate, the nice DVLA informed me I would need tax, MOT and insurance. Nice considering my car was in bits…. So eventually after sorting that out and paying a fair whack of cash, I now have a private plate on the bike. Its been an eventful few months sorting that out, not. Cost me a fortune, just to get a plate off, which I could do with a screwdriver GRRRR. DVLA suck, they were most unhelpful on the phone. Now the decider is how to display the plate. Still, now im one of “those pansy bikers with a private reg”
On another note, some of you have seen pictures of the old mans MV Augusta. Well that’s now sold, he got himself another Benelli. MV is so much faster, but he loves the nelli much much more. I took it for a ride the other day. You can keep your Ducatis and Gixxers, it was a dream to ride. 3000rpm upwards and that triple roared. Brakes were great, suspension was a little bumpy, but very good on UK roads. It took the bumps well and before long im hanging off the side trying to keep up with pater who’s riding my bandit  He keeps umming and arrring about the LE model though. I say don’t bother…..
Few days later, just sit down to eat my dinner, DING DOONNG… Get up and theres my dad again. Look outside, ahh he’s on the Nelli, but hold on, its different. Its and LE DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. He couldn’t resist it, his friend was moving back to the USA, and offered it to him. My word it really really is stunning. Carbon everything, tank (you can see the weaves under the paintwork), fairing, seat unit, even indicator/reg holder is all carbon. Fan surrounds, Ohlins all round, 140+bhp 899cc triple engine, lightweight wheels, magnesium engine casing, full titanium exhaust, quick release wiring loom etc. I think they were £24k new :-O He paid nothing like that, but I think it will be one of those bikes that goes up in value due to its rarity and the fact theres not much like it about.
Needless to say, now he has this (only 150 made worldwide), he will keep it. The other Nelli is up for sale. If I had half the cash available, It would already be mine, but I don’t, and it’s a real kick in the teeth not to L But it is for sale, so for any interest….

Those that get this bike will love it. Those that don’t get it, and just want “the best of everything cos its good to talk about” won’t. The attention to detail on these bikes is very high, riding is a dream, not everyone will love the unique styling, but it’s a bike about the passion, not about the outright hp and track statues. Its far more flickable than a GSXR, although not as fast (meh, straightliners, buy a Busa or a car).
Also, anyone ridden to Normandy? Any good roads anyone can suggest around that area (near Rennes (NW side)) as I may be popping down there with some friends on the bikes. Taaaaaaa
