I attempted to fit some Hel braided line to my sv, when i got to the master cylinder i found that the double banjo bolt they sent me has the wrong pitch to my master cylinder, it has the same pitch as the calipers' bolts. so i got a new one sent out to me and its the same thread! my bike was previously a cat c write off and has a mark on the frame, i am unsure what damage was done now, the bloke said it was dropped and had some damage to the tank, pegs and bar ends, the left bar end being bent at the bolt! anyway, my caliper says nisin 3 on it. any ideas?

Master cylinder is a different thread to the calipers so don't worry there, it appears you have the common braided hose line issue where HEL and Goodridge sometimes send you the wrong double bolt!

You might not have an SV one on, secondhand bike? Even so I would expect the thread to be different (finer) on the master cylinder than on the calipers.

Yes, second hand and it was a cat C so i'm guessing that the master cylinder was replaced when it was repaired. i am getting the correct double banjo from hel, i took it to work and found its an M10 x 2mm
how come yours say nissin 1 and mine says nissin 3?
My k6 also reads nissin k3 and is the original master cylinder

I got a set of HEL lines about a month ago and the same happened to me (metric coarse v. metric fine, apparently ....). When I called HEL* they were v. apologetic and told me I'd been sent the bolt kit for an 'S' rather than an 'N'. Not sure if that's true but the bolt they sent fitted perfectly.
* Called them at 4.30pm on a Tuesday and the bolt was with me at 9.30am the next day !!!!

did they send you a fine thread?
Wrong bolt they sent you.
It wont fit a standard nissin MC but the radial nissin uses metric fine thread and it fitted that, the SV standard should be metric corse as everyone said, just compare the original bolt to the HEL one.

Same thread.

The one they sent was the same as the original (actually they sent a couple of both just to be on the safe side). Delayed things by 20 hours, but once they were on they were great. No more furry connectors !!!

what is the size of the thread im after? i measured it at work and i got an M10 x 2mm but apparently hel make no such thing! this is starting to be a real pain in the ****, i paid £70 for this kit and expect it to fit! i know i over paid but i got it from my friend's business and thought it would be the safe option!!! :smt019 should have stuck with ebay

Not 100% (can measure when I get home at 5pm ish) but I think the standard SV mastercylinder thread is M10 x 1.00

Yeap, its 1.00 pitch thread!

Afternoon all.
There are only 2 different threads you will normally encounter on Jap master cylinders, 10x1.25mm & 10x1mm.
Ask them to send you the 'other' one to the one that you have. if that makes sense. Generally Nissin use 10x1.25mm threads.
Cheers.

There are only 2 different threads you will normally encounter on Jap master cylinders, 10x1.25mm & 10x1mm. Your front caliper mounting bolts should be 10x1.25 mm pitch, whip one out, give it a clean & see if it fits the master cylinder. If it does, Bingo! You'll know which one to ask for.
Alternatively, ask them to send you the 'other' one to the one that you have. if that makes sense. Generally Nissin use 10x1.25mm threads.

First sign of old age :-), and I should know!
A question - the rubber bit between master cylinder and the bit by the break leaver - should this be replaced? Seems a bit daft replacing all the rubber hoses and leaving this bit on. Which is were I am up to.
I tested this last bit of rubber hose last night and was suprised how much it flexed when the break leaver was applied.

No, its not a stressed item during the braking procedure. It only needs replacing if it is leaking or becoming brittle.
