This is no more than 40mins (at a very leisurely pace) away from my front door.

And yes, that is the road ahead winding and wiggling away down there... After the descent the road runs right the way alongside the loch, it's stunning it really is! Oh, and this road eventually brought me out about mid-way along the famous A701 (Edinburgh to Moffat 'Beeftub' road), just to doubly re-enforce exactly why I took up this wonderful new hobby!!

Taken with a camera phone so apologies for the grainy image quality!

Here's another snap from a wee bit earlier into that route.

And here's where we took a run out to on yesterday's IAM ride:

Samye Ling, Tibetan temple, bizarrely tucked away in the scottish hills...

We called in there on the N/S. Those chocolate brownies they sell there are pure chocolate. And yummy

We also got in St Mary's Lock, Meggets and Talla reservoirs.

The background in this view looks similar to your original post

Samye Ling is surreal as **** when you first come across it. I was taking a 'scenic' route back home from Scotland when I came to it. I nearly fell off my bike when I saw it. Some great roads just to the North of there- like a cross between the American south east and Switzerland. Several stretches I didn't see any other vehicles for about 20 minutes at a time, one of the most magical rides I've had in the UK.
